FROM OUR PRINCIPAL, MS. FOUNDAS
Dear Happy Hollow Families,
Dear Happy Hollow Families,
Thank you to the 134 caregivers who have reviewed our HH Family Handbook. Do not forget to complete this two question Google Form to confirm you have read the handbook and discussed the contents with your child(ren). This was due on September 11th.
Additionally, as part of the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s annual accountability reporting process, a number of schools are recognized each year for demonstrating both high achievement and significant growth. This year Happy Hollow has been honored as a 2024 Schools of Recognition!
While standardized tests provide some insights, they don’t capture the full scope of our students' growth and success. Each child has unique strengths, experiences, and ways of thinking that go beyond a single exam. Growth also shines through in creativity, collaboration, resilience, and critical thinking—qualities that contribute to well-rounded individuals.
At Happy Hollow we celebrate all of our students’ diverse achievements and recognize that true success comes in many forms. This recognition reflects the incredible dedication and hard work of our entire community. Your commitment to supporting our students and fostering an exceptional learning environment makes our school truly special.
Thank you for everything you do to encourage and uplift our students!
With gratitude,
Nicolette
FROM OUR LIBRARY
Volunteering in the Happy Hollow Library is fun and rewarding. As one parent says, "It's the best volunteer gig in the school!" Duties include checking books in and out, shelving books, covering and repairing books, and other special projects. No experience necessary - we will train you! Parents and grandparents generally like to help during their child's class, but there are other opportunities to volunteer as well.
Please contact HH Librarian Colleen Flannery or Volunteer Coordinator Alex Ryan if you'd like to participate in our volunteer program. Please note: This is a yearlong weekly or biweekly commitment, but arrangements can be made to share your time slot with another parent.
We especially need help with:
- Kindergarten - Ms Bergeron (Mondays 10:45-11:15)
- Kindergarten - Ms D. Russo (Tuesdays 10:10-10:40)
- Kindergarten - Ms Horgan (Fridays 10:10-10:40)
- 1st Grade - Ms M. Cohen (Mondays 9-9:45)
- 2nd Grade - Ms Cherwinski (Thursdays 1-1:45)
- 4th Grade - Ms Pech (Tuesdays 12:05-12:50)
