Good Evening CTHS Families
Thanks for a great year! We hope you have a fun and safe summer planned.
Remember, registration for the 24/25 school year opens on July 1st through ParentVue.
We look forward to seeing some new and familiar faces when we return to school on August 15th!
Have a great summer everyone!
Road Construction Project
The Alaska Department of Transportation held a meeting last week about the Seward-Meridian Parkway expansion. This summer's road work will include expanding and graveling the school side of the road and utility work. We anticipate a similar traffic pattern on the current road bed to continue next school year. We will share an update in our beginning-of-the-year newsletter.
AMPED Final Project
AMPED students completed their Semester 2 Personal Projects; they chose a design and heat pressed their own hoodie.
Unified Track & Field
Unified Track and Field competed in their Regional meet in Homer this past weekend. It was such a great experience because for some of our athletes it was the first time traveling away from home without family overnight and they did so well. It was clearly evident the friendships that have developed between these athletes through the course of the year through the environment that Katie, Jeff, and staff have fostered.
This upcoming weekend we have athletes qualified in the following events for state at Diamond High School:
- Shot Put – Isaiah and Aden
- 100m – Isaiah and Aden
- 4x100m – Isaiah, Aden, Logan, and Aila
Nurse Sonja Updates
Immunizations Due Over the Summer
Summer is a great time to check with your medical provider to ensure your student is up to date on immunizations prior to the next school year. Vaccines are some of the safest and most effective medicines we have, and they have made many dangerous childhood diseases rare today.
Required immunizations or exemptions due over the summer break need to be completed and returned to the health office by the first day of school on August 15th. If you have had a religious exemption in the past and desire to continue, these need to be completed after July 1st for the upcoming school year.
You can review the State of Alaska Child Care & School Immunization Requirements here. Updated vaccination records can be dropped off at the school, faxed (907-352-0479), or emailed to nurse Sonja @ sonja.mack@matsuk12.us.
Update Health Plans over the Summer with your Provider
If your student has asthma, severe history of allergies/anaphylaxis, a seizure disorder, diabetes or needs medications during the day while at school, please see the below links for the appropriate form(s) to be updated by your provider over the summer and turn them into nurse Sonja.
- Asthma Action Plan
- Allergy/Anaphylaxis Care Plan
- Diabetes Care Plan
- Seizure Care Plan
- Medication Authorization
Have a safe and restful summer! Please reach out if you have any questions.
