Headteacher's Message
Message from Mr O'Shannessy
Welcome back!
I hope everyone had a fantastic Half Term break. Thank you to everyone who sent postcards which we will add to our display in the school hall.
It is difficult to believe that we will make more progress than we did last half term. The final day Talent Show was an amazing way to celebrate all our skills. Everything from science experiments to gymnastics; singing to martial arts; dance to creating comic strip character's voices. With over half the school displaying the confidence to perform for the packed school hall.
What a week!
Although it may seem a challenge to match last half term we have started at a fantastic pace. In a week in which the children were only in school for 4 days:
· Year 1&2 children have already been on a school trip,
· Year 6 children have represented the school in TAG Rugby,
· Year 3&4 have taken part in a workshop with the Royal Opera and Ballet and learnt how to dance a sword fight which was amazing!
· Reception have been back in the kitchen like they are contestants on Bake Off.
Thank you
I would like to say a big thank you to Anne Erdis who has volunteered as a parent helper over the past 3 weeks helping in the library. In addition, without Anne’s support I am not sure the Talent Show would have gone ahead. I would encourage any parents or carers who are available to volunteer some time to support the school to come forward and speak to me.
Exciting news from the World of the St P&G Fish Tank.
We have had our first baby fish born in the tank! Standby for photos of the baby in the next few weeks. I am going to ask the photographer on Monday, who is in to take individual and sibling photos, to take a snap of the school's newest member. If you have a good name for the new baby, please write it down with your name and class then give it to Mr O.
We finished the week with a productive Friends’ meeting and a wonderful children’s celebration assembly.
Next week...
Next week we have more library visits, NSPCC assemblies and cinema trips. We will show our respect to those who died in the conflicts around the world by having 2 minutes silence on Monday 11th at 11 o’clock and finish the week with a Children in Need celebration.
Finally, during the month of November we will be encouraging the children to read non-fiction books to ensure they have variety in their reading diet.
Thank you for your continued support
