At Harlan We Vote!✅
The upcoming election on Tuesday, November 5th is an important opportunity for our community, school may be closed but we ALL have a big responsibility to fulfill.
Here's why voting matters:
Shape Our Future: Your vote has the power to impact decisions that affect our schools, neighborhoods, and families.
Support Education: Voting helps ensure that our students receive the resources and support they need to succeed.
Model Civic Responsibility: When we vote, we show our children the importance of participating in our democracy.
Voice Your Values: Every vote counts. It's your chance to stand up for the issues that matter to you and our community.
Let's make a difference—get out and vote on November 5th!

Let's Get Asset Rich 🤩
Are you familiar with the Developmental Assets and how research has shown they can play a pivotal role in your child's future success while decreasing the likelihood of engaging in risky behaviors? Each month, our community school team will challenge families to focus intentionally on one developmental asset. There are 40 assets in total, and we have attached a link for your reference. Please scroll to the bottom of the attached document to review the assets for students ages 5-9.
For November, we will focus on Service to Others (Asset #9 under Empowerment). We encourage you to share pictures of your family nurturing this asset by emailing them to daneya.jacobs@cffde.org. Your contributions may be featured in our upcoming articles.
Thank you for your support in empowering our children for a brighter future!
Wilmington Learning Collaborative
At Harlan, we’re proud to be part of the Wilmington Learning Collaborative (WLC), an educational nonprofit dedicated to creating positive change in Wilmington, Delaware schools. Our Community Schools efforts receive partial funding from WLC, and our team from Children & Families First is committed to advancing WLC’s mission: to establish a rigorous, engaging learning experience for Wilmington students through collaboration with families, educators, and school leaders.
One keyway we work with families is through our Parent Council. Unlike a traditional PTA, this group is activated to inform advocacy efforts that create a lasting, positive impact for current and future students. Interested in joining? Check out the flyer below for details and scan the QR code to sign up. Meetings begin in January, with dinner and childcare provided. Let’s build a strong legacy together!
