6th Grade Just Desserts
6th Graders gave a great "Just Desserts" concert last Monday evening and we hope all of you enjoyed the concert and hearing their progress. We also wanted to thank all of our wonderful parent volunteers who helped out in the cafeteria, and to Mrs. Bundick for recording both the 6th and 7th grade performances.
Below you will find links to the Just Desserts and Winter Concerts. Looking forward to seeing you in the SPRING!
1920's Meet and Greet
Mr. George Cassutto's students got a little hands on learning and some of the kids dressed the part for their "1920's Meet and Greet."
Check out Shaun Hornbaker as Charlie Chaplin in picture inset and Connor Beisel as Walt Disney and William Kamakawiwoole as Duke Ellington. You will also see Wilder Graham as Stuff Smith and Ella Lucero as Ella Fitzgerald.
This is an annual activity from our 7th grade Social Science teachers, Mr. Cassutto, Mr. Bell, and Ms. Hunt. In the fall, they also participated in the "Land Rush" and "Trenches of WW1."
Interims Passed
Parents,
Hard to believe but we are passed the interim mark of the 3rd quarter. Please make sure you are checking your child's grades with them to ensure they are completing all assignments.
Contact the teacher immediately through their email with questions to start that conversation. Don't wait until the end.
Chorus 8 Guest Speaker
We had an awesome clinic with Elaine Stanford, LCPS Music Specialist, last Friday! The Harmonettes did a great job in their rehearsal performance and Mrs. Stanford commented on how talented, responsive and respectful the ladies were. We are very proud of them.
Kerry Wilkerson, professor of music at George Mason University, will be coming in this Thursday to work with iN Harmony. This is an awesome opportunity for the guys and we are very excited to welcome Mr. Wilkerson to Harmony!

Staff News
Congratulations Ms. Elizabeth Gueits. She was selected for a full scholarship to cover June 22 to June 29 to learn in Spain this summer! https://www.tiatula.com/scholarships-for-teachers/gallery/
Congratulations to Alishia Hennessy, HPE teacher. Her son, Tommy, a VMI graduate and a Second Lieutenant in the Army, just did something unique. He successfully completed Ranger School. He passed all three phases, Darby, Mountains, and Swamp, without recycling, which is an incredible achievement given the course’s demanding nature. He graduates this week!

Required Vaccinations for All 7th-grade Students:

Once your student is vaccinated, please provide our school with the appropriate documentation. For more information, please see LCPS' Immunization Requirements webpage. For more general information about back-to-school immunizations for students of all ages, see the Virginia Department of Health website. Vaccinations are required by Virginia law and they help keep all of us safe. Thank you!
Boys Basketball Teams
This weekend, the 6th grade, 7th grade, and 8th grade boys travel basketball teams have all made it to the semi-finals at Riverside HS. This Saturday they will face some very tough competition but hopefully they will come out ahead. Finals on Sunday. Mr. Stewart will shave his head if they all win.
Bus Passes Still Exceptions
Parents- We need your help with bus passes. If you have an unusual circumstance where you need your child to ride home on a different bus with a friend, you must send a note in to the house secretary. We have to call transportation to ensure there is enough space on the bus and will write a bus note if transportation says it is okay.
Bus drivers will not let students ride on their buses without an official bus pass, so please help us by getting these requests turned in early in the day.
