A Message from Mrs. Shawna Evans!🏫
Dear Clearwater Creek Elementary Families,
I am beyond thrilled to be joining the Clearwater Creek Elementary Family as your new principal and cannot wait to meet you and your children! Clearwater Creek has a strong tradition of excellence, with supportive parents and talented staff. I am honored to work with each of you to continue this tradition of excellence.
My journey in education spans over almost 3 decades! I began my career teaching 5th grade before transitioning into leadership roles. For 11 years, I served as the principal of a K-3 building, followed by the last 7 years as the principal of a K-5 school. I have also served as the district Elementary Student Intervention Team coordinator. These years have been instrumental in shaping my approach to educational leadership, blending hands-on experience with a passion for student growth and achievement. I believe in a nurturing environment where each child can thrive, supported by a strong, inclusive community. At Clearwater Creek Elementary, I am dedicated to continuing the legacy of educational excellence, ensuring that every student has access to high-quality learning experiences.
On a personal note, my husband, Brent, and I have been married for 27 years. Brent will be joining Green Springs Elementary as the PE teacher. We recently made a significant change in our lives by selling our family farm, and we are looking forward to embracing the city life in Olathe.
We are proud parents of two wonderful children. Our son, Cole, is a mechanical engineer in St. Louis, while his wife, Giovanna, serves as a student success advisor at Missouri Baptist University. Meanwhile, our daughter is attending Emporia State University, where she is majoring in Elementary Education and is a part of the Stingers Dance Team.
Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, spending time with family, reading, and cheering for our favorite sports teams. Our son played college baseball, our daughter-in-law was a two time national champion in college volleyball, and our daughter has been involved in a variety of sports. So, we have always been a sports family and enjoy attending a variety of sporting events. We are excited about cheering on the Chiefs and the Royals in person, rather than through the confines of our TV!
Please know that it is always my goal to ensure that your child feels a sense of pride to be at our school, our teachers feel supported, and Clearwater Creek families feel connected. I am committed to working closely with Mr. Patterson to ensure the leadership transition is smooth for you and your children. I am eagerly anticipating my visit to Clearwater Creek Elementary in the next few weeks and the opportunity to connect with the staff, students, and some of you and hear about all of the fantastic things happening at CWC!
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me at any time—I am here to support in any way I can. I look forward to beginning this journey with you and cannot wait to be a Clearwater Creek
Coyote!
Sincerely,
Shawna Evans
A Message from Mrs. Reed! 💜💛
It’s almost time to say goodbye, but not just yet, so please don’t cry.
It has been an incredible 7-year journey here as a Coyote at CWC. I have accepted a job at Forest View in Second Grade for the 2024-2025 school year. It is bittersweet leaving the grade that has had my heart and soul for the past 17 years. If I was your child’s kindergarten teacher, thank you for sharing your pride and joy with me and thank you for supporting my efforts. It was always my goal to get them to start loving to learn and read!
I will miss the community and togetherness here at CWC. But know that you have the best of the best here from K-5th to guide your child through their education career!
Thank you for all that you do, CWC will always hold a special place in my heart!
Sincerely,
Megan Reed
Please Welcome...Ms. Perez!

Attendance Makes All the Difference! 🎓
At CWC, we are committed to finishing the school year on a strong note, and regular attendance at school makes all the difference. Your child's regular attendance at school is invaluable, not just for their academic growth but for their social and emotional development too. Your child is a vital part of our school community, and every day they're absent, we miss the opportunity to partner with them on their educational journey and watch them learn and grow. Together we can work to ensure they can make the most of every school day, building a foundation for a bright and successful future.
If you're facing obstacles to regular attendance, please reach out. We're more than ready to collaborate on making school a priority and a possibility for your child.

OPS Updates Regarding 24-25 School Year Changes! 🏫
As a reminder, we will see a few changes in the new year and next school year.
Open Enrollment Beginning in 2024 for 24-25 School Year
Kansas House Bill 2567 states all public-school districts must allow non-resident students who reside in Kansas to enroll in and attend any school if the district has the capacity and this takes effect in the 2024-25 school year. Our policy includes an in-district transfer period starting Jan. 4, followed by a district employee transfer period starting March 1. District enrollment capacity must be determined by May 1 and posted on the district website by June 1. Non-resident applications would be accepted June 1-30, followed by a non-resident lottery selection process July 1-15. For more information, click here.
Start and End Times Beginning in 2024-25 School Year
The following start and end time schedule will begin in August 2024.
- High schools and Prairie Learning Center, 7:40 a.m.-2:40 p.m.
- Middle schools and Heartland Early Childhood Center, 8:20 a.m.-3:20 p.m.
- Elementary schools and Harmony Early Childhood Center, 8:55 a.m.-3:55 p.m.
The district understands this change will impact every family differently. Please be on the lookout for more information on solutions impacting each level and the transportation restrictions in place for this year that will be removed. The Board of Education approval of this new schedule during their December meeting gave the district, families and staff a full semester and summer to make necessary plans and adjustments before school starts in August 2024.
