Update from Mrs. Lomonico
Dear TGE Families,
Toll Gate Elementary continues to shine, thanks to the incredible efforts of our dedicated students, committed staff, and supportive families. The positive energy and enthusiasm for learning are palpable throughout the school, and I am delighted to witness the growth and achievements of our students.
One of the key aspects we are focusing on in school right now is fostering a sense of responsibility among our students. We believe that instilling a sense of responsibility for oneself and one's actions is a crucial foundation for personal and academic success. Our teachers and staff are working diligently to empower students to take ownership of their learning journey and demonstrate responsibility both inside and outside the classroom.
In line with this, we recognize the importance of a strong partnership between school and home. Parents play a pivotal role in reinforcing the values of responsibility and accountability. Your continued support at home greatly contributes to the overall success of our students. Together, we can nurture a positive and empowering environment that sets the stage for a bright future.
One of the ways we encourage responsibility and a love for learning is through fostering a reading culture. We believe that reading opens doors to imagination, knowledge, and personal growth. I want to emphasize that it doesn't matter what your child is reading—whether it's fiction, non-fiction, or even graphic novels—as long as they are engaged and developing a genuine interest in the world of books.
To further enhance our efforts, we invite you to join us in promoting a love for reading at home. Create a cozy reading nook, discuss books together, and share your own reading experiences. Your involvement in your child's reading journey can make a significant impact on their academic success and overall well-being.
Thank you for your continued partnership in making Toll Gate Elementary a fantastic place for our students to learn and grow. If you have any questions, concerns, or ideas to share, please feel free to reach out. Together, we can ensure that our students thrive academically and develop into responsible, lifelong learners.
Don't forget:
Parent-teacher conferences are February 20. The conference forms should already have come home. If you haven't seen them, please reach out to your child's teacher. Open lines of communication are key to ensuring that we provide the best possible support for our students.
Warm regards,
Erika Lomonico

Personal electronic devices usage on the rise at TGE
We kindly request your assistance in reinforcing our school policy, which advocates for cell phones (and smart watches if being used to call and text) to remain securely stored in students' bags and powered off during school hours. This practice is in place to ensure an optimal learning environment for all students, minimizing distractions and allowing them to fully engage in their educational experiences.
By keeping phones in their bags and powered off, we aim to create a focused and respectful atmosphere that promotes learning and collaboration. It is our priority to provide an environment where every student can thrive academically and socially.
We appreciate your support in communicating this expectation to your child. Encouraging them to adhere to this policy will contribute to a more productive and positive learning environment for everyone.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to reach out to me or your child's teacher. Your partnership is crucial in maintaining the high standards we set for academic success and a respectful school community.
