Description
- Are you new to Preschool Special Education? If so, the Child Outcome Summary (COS) is a federal requirement for all preschool students with disabilities. Child Outcomes Summary (COS) Training- Part 1 Asynchronous: This training provides an introduction to the COS process, explains how to describe children's functioning in the three outcome areas, and explores the five areas of essential knowledge that teams need to have for completing the COS process. Part 1 will be completed prior to attending the session on September 1 in an asynchronous format. Participants will receive the information at least a week ahead of time. Then on August 30, participants will receive Child Outcomes Summary (COS) Training-Part 2. This session will involve key features of the Child Outcomes Summary (COS) process and required information to successfully complete the process. Participants complete application activities and explore the requirements and resources specific to state policies about collecting child outcomes data.
Objectives
1. Participants will be able to identify the 3 outcomes within the Child Outcome Summary process through calibration in the post-test. (Part 1 asynchronous)
2. Participants will be able to recognize characteristics within each level of the 7-point scale through calibration in the post test. (Part 1 asynchronous)

3. Participants will be able to show an increase in their knowledge of the Child Outcome Summary Rating Process as evidenced in the final evaluation survey. (Part 2)
4. Participants will be able to demonstrate how to correctly complete the required Child Outcome Summary form using a collaborative team approach within small groups. (Part 2)
