Annie Jr. Auditions and Parent Information Session
COME ONE COME ALL TO AUDITIONS FOR ANNIE JR. Auditions will be held for performers on Tuesday, 9/24 and Wednesday, 9/25 afterschool.
For parents an information meeting will be held on Thursday, September 19th from 5-6:30 at WMS.
Based on the popular comic strip and adapted from the Tony Award-winning Best Musical, with a beloved book and score by Tony Award winners, Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin, Annie JR. features everyone’s favorite little redhead in her very first adventure.
With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan Annie charms everyone's hearts despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City. Annie is determined to find the parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of an orphanage run by the cruel Miss Hannigan. Annie eventually foils Miss Hannigan's evil machinations, finding a new home and family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary, Grace Farrell, and a lovable mutt named Sandy.
Arrival/Dismissal:
Over the course of the week we have been working on refining a process to make morning drop off and afternoon dismissal smoother and faster for parents and buses. This year we have 32 buses dropping off in the morning and picking up in the afternoon.
In order to ensure that ALL buses can enter and exit the parking lot safely we need parents to enter and exit the parking lot on Orchard Road ONLY. The Baker Road entrance is solely used for buses and student walkers to enter and exit.
During dismissal we will have round 1 buses park and pick up students from 3:15-3:22. All round 1 buses will depart at 3:23 pm. All round 2 buses will park and pick up students from 3:24-3:31. Round 2 buses will depart at 3:32 pm.
Please look at the images below outlining which buses are round 1 and which buses are round 2. Make sure your child knows which round their bus will depart in. Starting Monday, 9/9 if a student misses their bus parents will be expected to come pick them up.
Crew leaders will review bus rounds and expectations with students on Monday. Please review them with your child at home as well.
6th Grade Families
The majority of our 6th graders have lunch on a daily basis from 1:26 pm to 1:56 pm. This is later in the day than they are used to and we know our students get hungry earlier and need food to help fuel their learning. 6th grade teachers will allow students to bring snacks to classes and students will be able to eat those snacks during Top 10 Reading ONLY. Students are NOT allowed to share their snacks as it causes significant disruptions. If a child does not have a snack and needs one the teacher will make sure they get a snack.
**. If you'd like to donate snacks for other students, please drop them off in the Welcome Center with Kim Campbell's name on them. Thank you so much.

Cell Phone and Earbud/Headphone Policy:
Please take a moment to review the West Middle School cell phone and earbud/headphone policy below. This week teachers had students practice the policy but did not confiscate phones. Next week we will begin fully enforcing the policy. Please speak to your child and make sure they understand the expectations and consequences for not following the expectations.
West Middle School 2024/2025 Cell Phone & Earbud/Headphone Policy
Students are not allowed to use or display cell phones, earbuds or wireless headphones in classrooms. Students may use their cell phones in hallways ONLY during transitions and at lunch.
Students may MUST keep their silence or turned off cell phones, earbuds or wireless headphones in one of the following places:
- At home
- In backpacks
- In containers provided by staff
- In their locker
If staff see or hear cell phones, earbuds or wireless headphones during class, they will be confiscated and turned into the main office and returned to the student at the end of the day. Repeated incidents will require parents to pick up the phone from school or other interventions.
Service Dog at West Middle School
This year we will have a service dog in our school assisting one of our students. This service dog is a trained companion for the student and is able to assist him in many of the daily routines while learning at school.
This certified service dog is highly trained and will be a benefit to the student’s learning. We will have lessons at school during Crew to introduce students to the service dog and teach them the proper procedures around the animal because the animal is not a pet but a certified working service dog while at school. Please take a moment to watch this video with your child to introduce them to John and his service dog Nikki.
We look forward to this new addition to our school community. Thank you for your understanding and support. Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact the school office.
Family Handbook
Please take a moment to read through the West Middle School Family Handbook linked here. The purpose of the handbook is to ensure that we communicate consistent expectations across our community. The Family Handbook serves to inform you of the many policies and practices that govern our school community. As West Middle School always seeks to improve, we reserve the right to amend, modify or change the provisions of this Handbook. We will provide all students and families notice of any significant changes in the policies reflected in the following pages.
