***Picking Your Student Up Early Policy***
Our early pick up procedures have changed. Parents/Guardians must pre-arrange any change to their scholar's daily dismissal prior to 2:00pm. If you have not called your scholar's attendance line or the main office prior to 2:00pm, your student will not be dismissed until the final bell at 2:40pm. At the end of the day, we have numerous things going on and it is unfeasible to accommodate requests after 2:00pm.

Winntonka High School Phone Policy
PURPOSE
At Winnetonka High School, our goal is to create a warm, welcoming, safe, academically focused environment for students. Student cell phone use at school has been identified as a tremendous distraction to meeting that goal. And, with the deployment of district issued MacBooks, cell phones are unnecessary for academics throughout the school day. The building practice outlined below has been developed in coordination with NKC Board Policy JG-R- Technology Misconduct.
Boundary
- From 7:43am-2:40pm, student cell phone use is prohibited during class time (Bell to Bell).
- Student cell phones may NOT be seen/heard/accessed for any reason during class time.
- If students bring cell phones to school, they must be concealed and secured in their locker or personal bag/backpack.
- Cell phones can only be used before school, after school, during passing period, and lunch.
What about Necessary Student/Family Communication?
- Our school has over 100 active landline phones that can be made available for necessary student communication.
- Families should NOT call, text, or video-conference students during class time. Families should contact the front office to communicate emergency messages to students during bell to bell or class time.
- In order to protect instructional time, please limit student contact/communication to only important/urgent messages
- Guardians should contact the front office to communicate messages to students or families may contact students through district email. Students have frequent access to district email through their district issued MacBook.
- Students will be able to check their messages in between classes, before and after school, and during their lunch period.
Consequences for Violations
Progressive consequences will accumulate per student, per year.
1st Offense: Confiscation. Parent Contact. Student Pickup
2nd Offense: Confiscation. Parent Contact. Parent Pickup
3rd Offense: Confiscation. Parent Contact. Detention. Parent Pickup
4th & Beyond: Confiscation. Parent Meeting. Suspension. Parent Pickup
*If a student refuses to turn in their cell phone for a policy violation the student will be subject to further disciplinary action.
