Mondays are Collaboration Day
Every Monday, Valhalla has a Collaboration Bell Schedule. This bell schedule gets students off campus a little earlier so teachers can collaborate on best practices.

Textbook Distribution
Social Science classes will be headed to the library to pick up school textbooks:
Monday - 12th grade classes
Tuesday - 11th grade classes
Wednesday - 10th grade classes
Thursday - 9th grade classes
Behavior Talks
School Administrators will be visiting English classes this week to review School Rules and Expectations with all students. For a detailed list of School Policies and Information, your can review the Student Handbook.
START SMART - for driver safety!
This week Tuesday is the first START SMART class at Valhalla. You can register for the event HERE. Students must complete the START SMART program in order to park on campus.

Senior Parking Lot Auction
The time is here - Seniors can purchase a parking spot at the auction on Wednesday, August 21st! Reminder that in order to purchase a spot, you must have a parking permit AND a form that you get from the finance office!
Theater Auditions - HARVEY!
Harvey is a comedic and fun play about a man (Elwood) and his invisible friend who is a six-foot tall rabbit!

KUSI Alarm Clock Pep Rally THIS FRIDAY!
The Thunderdome will open at 7:45am and close when we're at capacity. Wear your VIBRANT ORANGE and SPARKLING WHITE and join in the fun!
ODIN's Procession THIS FRIDAY!
Odin's Procession welcomes the freshmen class as well as all new students and staff members into the Valhalla Community. All new Norsemen will enter the Rainbow Bridge, touch Thor's Hammer for good luck and be welcomed by Odin himself.
Valhalla will have a modified bell schedule on Friday, August 23rd in order to hold Odin's Procession on the East Lawn.
First HOME Football Game
The Norsemen are taking on Classical Academy this Friday at HOME. JV game starts at 4:30pm; Varsity starts at 7:00pm. Tickets can be purchased at the gate:
Adults - $10.00
Students without an ASB Card - $5.00
Students with an ASB Card - FREE
NWEA Testing: Aug 28 - 29
The California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) is the state of California’s academic testing program. The CAASPP is administered to all 11th graders. To prepare for the CAASPP, 9th and 10th grade students take the NWEA Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) tests. These adaptive tests measure growth throughout the school year, and from year to year.
Student Picture Make-Ups: Sept 5th
Cherished Memories will be on campus Thursday, September 5th to take student photos and make student ID cards. They will only re-issue ID cards to students that did not receive theirs last week.
Parent Portal is your access to the district's school information system. An account was created for you when you completed your registration. If you need support using the portal, check out these resources:

The Valhalla Webstore allows your to purchase essential school items online. The Webstore has items like:
- ASB cards - $30
- PE clothes - shirt $10, shorts $15
- Yearbooks - $90
- and spirit items starting from $12

Attendance Policy
- Please clear absences within 48 hours - you can bring a signed note to the Attendance Office or call and leave a message at (619) 593-5333.
- Appointments - If students need to leave school early, you can call the attendance office, bring a signed note or walk up to the attendance window. Please allow time for students to be notified.
- Auto Dialer is Back! If your child is absent for one or more periods, without being verified, your family will receive an automated evening message.
Community College Courses
If you took a community college course over the summer and would like to have the credits transferred to your Valhalla transcript, please follow the steps below:
1. Visit Cuyamaca.edu or Grossmont.edu and click on the “Self Service” tab.
2. Click on “Academics”, followed by the “Unofficial Transcript" tab.
3. Download an unofficial transcript and email it to your counselor or print a copy and drop it off at the counseling office.
Please remember, if you have met your a-g requirements through a community college class, you must submit a copy of your transcript for your counselor to verify. Community college classes will receive weighted credit if they are 3 units or more and UC/CSU transferable.
