Frontier Schools is now accepting new student applications for the 2025-26 school year. The easiest and quickest way to apply is online at frontierschools.org. The application deadline is February 1st, 2025.

Hall Family Foundation's Major Investment in Frontier Schools
220 Laptops Donated to Frontier Students by AT&T and Partners
On October 8th, AT&T and Compudopt, in collaboration with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Greater Kansas City and Frontier Schools, provided 220 refurbished laptops to Frontier students in need. Funded by AT&T, the laptops were pre-allocated to selected recipients before the event. This initiative was part of AT&T’s Hispanic Heritage Month celebration and coincided with the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s annual meeting in Kansas City. Carlos Gomez, President of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, AT&T representatives, and Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas were present to personally distribute the laptops.
KMBC 9 Cares for Kids Initiative
On October 11th, guests from KMBC 9 visited FSI Elementary, bringing the joy of reading to Ms. Cravy’s 1st grade class. Students gathered in small groups as KMBC 9 team members took turns reading stories, creating an engaging and memorable experience for the young listeners.

Henderson Engineers Brings Hands-On STEM to Frontier Classrooms at FSI-E
Districtwide Parent -Teacher Conferences
On October 4th, Frontier Schools organized districtwide Parent-Teacher Conferences, bringing together students and their parents for one-on-one discussions with teachers and staff. During these meetings, both student performance and opportunities for improvement were actively addressed, promoting a collaborative approach to education.
Missouri HOPE 24: Hands-On Emergency Management Training for FSHS Students
From October 11th to 13th, 41 FSHS students participated in Missouri HOPE 24, an immersive event focused on emergency response. Over three days, students trained alongside emergency management teams and medical professionals, gaining hands-on experience through mass casualty simulation drills. This event, part of the HOSA partnership with the Medical Reserve Corps (MRCKC), was open to all interested students. Participants earned 33 community service hours, gaining invaluable skills and insights into emergency preparedness and healthcare response.

On October 3, 2024, the student leadership of our Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) welcomed parents and families to Back to School Night. The evening showcased our exceptional programs: HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America), TSA (Technology Student Association), FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America), and Mock Trial.
Parents enjoyed an engaging night where they learned about each organization, met our dedicated student leaders, and discovered how these programs prepare students for future success. Dinner was provided.
A special thank you to those who supported the HOSA dinner; your contributions helped make the event a success. Parents found the program beneficial, and middle school families expressed excitement about HOSA!

On October 31st, FSI Elementary hosted vibrant fall parties for students, filled with exciting activities, crafts, and games. The celebration featured delicious snacks, candy, and plenty of fun!

FSE Alumni Panel
On October 2nd, FSE seniors enjoyed a catered lunch while receiving valuable advice on excelling after graduation. They learned about college, financial aid, and scholarships from a panel of successful alumni.
Senior Jonathan S. found the discussion enlightening, especially regarding the diverse career paths and the importance of networking. He emphasized that embracing failure as a learning opportunity was particularly impactful.
Nabil Abas, an academic success counselor at Metropolitan Community College-Penn Valley and FSE alum, expressed the rewarding nature of sharing his journey. “If my experiences inspire even one student to embrace their unique path, then I’ve done my part,” he said.

National Junior Honor Society at FSI Middle
On October 28th, Frontier School of Innovation Middle proudly inducted its newest National Junior Honor Society students. This esteemed national organization honors students who have demonstrated exceptional scholarship, character, citizenship, service, and leadership. Red Ribbon Week at FSI Elementary
From October 25 to 31, FSI Elementary celebrated Red Ribbon Week, focusing on promoting healthy and active lifestyles. This year’s theme was “Life is a Movie. Film Drug Free!”
To kick off the festivities, students participated in a door decorating contest, showcasing their spirit for Red Ribbon Week. Each day featured a different dress theme:
- Monday: “Peace Out to Drugs” – Wear tie-dye
- Tuesday: “Team Up Against Drugs” – Support your favorite sports team
- Wednesday: “Follow Your Dreams, Say ‘NO’ to Drugs!” – Dress in pajamas
- Thursday: “Let’s Scare Drugs Away!” – Come in costume
- Friday: “Being Drug Free is No SWEAT” – Sport workout clothes
Together, students learned the importance of living drug-free while having fun and expressing their creativity!
Red Ribbon Week at FSI Middle
Day of the Dead Celebration at FSHS
On October 30th, FSHS hosted a vibrant Day of the Dead celebration in the school gymnasium, honoring the memories of loved ones who have passed away, including beloved pets. This meaningful holiday allows us to celebrate and cherish the moments we've shared with them.
Families were invited to contribute by bringing dishes to share at this special event. Attendees enjoyed a festive atmosphere filled with music, crafts, movies, arroz con leche, hot chocolate, pastries, and more, creating a warm and inclusive community celebration.
FSI Middle 6-8 Grade Dance
On October 11th, FSI Middle hosted a dance for 6th to 8th graders, where students enjoyed great music, tasty snacks, and an evening of fun and bonding with friends.
HOSA Fall Leadership Conference
On October 27th and 28th, students from Frontier STEM High School, Frontier School of Excellence, and Frontier School of Innovation Middle School attended the HOSA Fall Leadership Conference, joining over 500 participants from HOSA chapters across the state.
During the conference, students voted on this year's shirt and lapel pin designs for the Missouri State Leadership Conference. They participated in six workshops led by the Missouri HOSA State Officer Team and the Missouri Hospital Association, covering topics such as:
- Exploring and Maximizing Shadowing and Service Opportunities
- Embracing Your Leadership Style
- Igniting Leadership through Opportunities Outside of HOSA
- Show Me You
- Laying the HOSA Foundation
- Healthcare Careers & Leadership Skills
On the final day, students focused on chapter development and local program planning. During the closing ceremonies, Valeria Gonzales, a sophomore from Frontier STEM High School, received the LEADERSHIP award for her outstanding participation.

HOSA Students Visit Mizzou Veterinarian College
On October 26th, 2024, Frontier STEM HOSA and Frontier FSI HOSA students visited the Mizzou Veterinarian College. They attended an interactive presentation about the path to veterinary school, discussing admissions with a recruiter and current students. The session highlighted the importance of participating in HOSA veterinary competitions and mastering the sciences to enhance their chances of acceptance.
Students also learned about comparative medicine, exploring how treatments for animals can benefit humans, and toured the veterinary hospital, observing emergency veterinary medicine in action. They saw a variety of animals, including a calf born via cesarean section.
Overall, students found the experience enlightening. Tenth grader Sherlin expressed, “I am now more committed to exploring a career in veterinary science.” As a result of the visit, FSI Middle School students Samara and Emily have chosen to compete in the Introduction to Veterinary Medicine HOSA competition.
Special thanks to HOSA middle school advisers Serpil Demircia and Gazi Karakas, and chaperones Laura Delgado and Shelda Kirkland for supporting this career exploration trip.

Hispanic Heritage Night at FSHS
Hispanic Heritage Assembly at FSE
Frontier School of Excellence recently hosted a Hispanic Heritage Assembly, bringing together students for a lively celebration of culture and community. The event began with the band performing as students gathered, creating an energetic atmosphere. Student host Jonathan welcomed guest speaker Leo Prieto, who shared inspiring insights on the significance of Hispanic heritage and unity.
Following the presentation, students enjoyed a cultural trivia game, paletas, and time to connect. The assembly highlighted FSE’s commitment to honoring diversity and inspiring students to embrace their heritage.

On October 31st, FSE hosted an exciting College and Career Fair, welcoming numerous colleges and local businesses, including Cleveland University, Rockhurst, UMKC, FOX 4, the Army, etc. Representatives engaged with students, sharing valuable insights and opportunities for their future careers and education!
FSE Awards Ceremony
On October 22nd, FSE held an Awards Assembly to celebrate student achievements. Certificates were awarded for perfect attendance, academic excellence, and exemplary behavior. Later that day, the honorees enjoyed a special treat of ice cream to recognize their accomplishments.
October Parent Academies
The Parent Academy is a FREE, district-wide initiative that strives to open the lines of communication between home and school by connecting parents to the resources and information needed to support their child's education.
Throughout the year, all campuses will host several Parent Academy events that will consist of educational and inspirational sessions covering a wide variety of topics; including, Conscious Discipline at Home, College Prep and Financial Aid, FAFSA, NWEA, etc.

Frontier School of Excellence, Frontier STEM High School and FSI Middle School participate in several college visits throughout the year. During their visits, students learn about the academic programs offered, campus activities, the admissions process, financial aid, and how to apply for scholarships.

After School Clubs
There are many opportunities for students to get involved in after school clubs, such as: Advanced Research Club, Gateway Readers' Club, Girls on the Run Club, Health Occupations Students of America Club, Writer's Workshop Club, Math Club, Fishing Club, Cooking Club, I.T. Club, Kindness Club, Art & Craft Club, Video Game Design Club, Chess Club, Fitness Club, Environmental Club, etc.

Home Visits
Teachers and school staff have visited 316 students in 193 homes since the start of the 2024-25 school year. Home visits are paramount in bridging cultural gaps that might exist. These visits also provide opportunities for staff to understand their students better by visiting them in their home environments.
