SCHOOLWIDE GOAL: TEACHING STUDENTS ABOUT ZONES OF REGULATIONS:
The Zones of Regulation is a tool used to help students identify and communicate how they are feeling in a healthy way. Over the next two weeks, we are going to review two out of the four phases of alertness and emotion.
The Zones can teach children how to effectively use different tools and techniques to move throughout the zones.
The goals are for children to be able to:
Identify how they are feeling and corresponding ZONE
Use a tool-box system that works for you and your child that will help them stay calm during situations that are challenging for them.
Sharing the Yellow Zone: This is a time to think about what are some possible triggers that we should recognize in our kids.
Sharing the Red Zone: This is where you can loose control. It is important to limit verbal interactions, one needs time and space, avoid power struggles.
**We are sharing with the goal of building common language between school and home.
More to follow throughout the next few weeks from Ms. Wiley, Dr. Ramirez and Ms. Ledig:)
