PEEK AT THE WEEK

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday break. It's time to get back to a normal sleeping schedule and begin a fresh start to a new year! I am pledging to start the year with positivity and count my blessings. With that being said, I am blessed to be returning to a job in a great community amongst family, friends and colleagues that want what is best for our Davison kids and families. Yes, our jobs are challenging and downright exhausting at times, but we are where we are because we care deeply for kids. With the challenges of our daily work, come many blessings and rewards. Enjoy the last hours of this long and needed break and try to think about all the blessings that the new year will bring. I am looking forward to seeing YOU!!

Wow! We are returning from break with quite a few staff changes. We have been working behind the scenes during the last several weeks with staff placements. I am confident that we have staff in place that prioritize doing what it best for our kids. Please join me in congratulating existing staff on their new positions and welcoming new staff as they join our early learning team. Look for staff bios and pics in next week's SMORE newsletter.

1/6 - 1/10 2020-. Alicia Bautista returns from maternity leave and Heidi Alcodray will continue to team with Alicia in room 3. Rejeanna Seigel will start in room 5 as the long term sub associate teacher. This will give Rejeanna a chance to become familiar with the students and routine before Lindsey and Adrienne transfer to their new positions at the Cardinal's Nest.

Frank Havasi, current special education parapro will be starting at the Cardinal's Nest in the school age classroom.

1/13- Lindsey Tate and Adrienne Vickerman will start in their new positions at the Cardinal's Nest. Lindsey will begin her role as the Cardinal's Nest program director and Adrienne will begin her role as the 8:00-4:00 office monitor.

1/13- The new lead teacher will start in room 5. We are in the process of hiring and will have it finalized very soon. I am looking forward to letting everyone know that details regarding our new lead teacher. I will be sending a letter home to the parents of students in room 5 this week to let them know about changes in the teaching team. I am confident that the new lead teacher is going to be a great fit for Davison GSRP.

1/13- Katie Rivette will start at the Cardinal's Nest in room 104 as the associate teacher with Rachel Meinburg. Rebecca Morgan will be beginning in room 2 this week and will get to become familiar with the associate teacher role before Katie moves to the Cardinal's Nest.

1/15- Heather Williamson will be returning. Angie Moore and Tosca Trowt will continue to support GSRP classrooms until Heather returns.

I think I have a case of 'vacation brain' when it comes to remembering all of our special upcoming dates this week. Here is my best attempt at noting the events for the week ahead. If needed, I will send out an email reminder with anything I may have neglected to add for this week.

Monday, January 6th- Welcome Back! Alicia Bautista returns from maternity leave. Social Committee mtg at Central/GSRP 3:50 in room 2. Susan meeting at noon (HB). Petra begins p.m. one one one student assignment at Cardinal's Nest. Susan at Central/GSRP in a.m. and Cardinal's Nest in p.m. New associate teacher starts with observing in room 2 until appropriate paperwork is completed. Rejeanna Seigel starts associate teacher sub position in room 5. Ann S. and Renee S. work extended hours at Cardinal's Nest to cover office during this week as we transition current staff to new positions. Letter goes home to Central/GSRP room 2 and room 5 regarding new teaching teams.

Tuesday, January 7th- Letter to Cardinal's Nest parents introducing new program director, office staff, and new GSRP teaching team. Mtg. w Jen Seal and Rachel M. @ Cardinal's Nest in p.m.

Wednesday, January 8th- Davison Library Board mtg. 4:15- Susan

Thursday, January 9th- General Admin mtg. a.m. (Susan). Meeting with I.S.'s parents Thursday January 9th 4:30 (Jen Seal, Rachel M., Susan). Lindsey Tate and Adrienne Vickerman's last official day in room 5.

Friday, January 10th- Parent teacher conference schedules due to early learning office.

Thank you to Superintendent Brown for carrying on the Davison preschool tradition of reading "Twas the Night Before Christmas" to all of our Cardinal's Nest and GSRP preschoolers. Mr. Brown shared that he "enjoyed it immensely" as did our staff and students.
