Happy Friday Wildcats!
Our cheerleaders and wrestlers had a great meet last week in Tennessee. Cheerleaders were awarded conference champions. Our wrestlers placed 5th overall. KSB athletes won the spirit award, and our mascot got 2nd place in the mascot competition. Great Job Wildcats!
A gentle reminder is that on February 13th, the Kentucky Center for Safe Schools will be on KSB’s campus to conduct a safety assessment. Part of the assessment is a Parent Survey and a Student Survey. Students in fourth grade through high school will complete the surveys next week at school. Thank you to those who took the time to complete the survey. The link to the Parent Survey is below and we very much want to know your views and any problems that need to be addressed. Thank you for your help! Parent Safe School Survey
Have a great weekend and take good care!

Dear Parents,
With the increase in Flu A, Flu B, RSV, Norovirus and other contagious illnesses going around, please remember to follow the guidelines below. Please do not send your child to school with any of the following symptoms:
• Fever of 100.0 or more
• Vomiting with or without fever
• Diarrhea with or without fever
• Severe Cough
• Suspected Pink Eye (Conjunctivitis)
• Open sores that cannot be covered by a band-aid
• An undiagnosed/untreated rash
This will greatly reduce the passage of infectious illnesses to our students and staff. He/she may not return to school until they are well (no fever, no vomiting, no diarrhea) without medication for a full day (24 hours), unless otherwise noted to be not contagious by a physician (such as with an ear infection). The doctor’s excuses must include the date seen and the date to return to school. They should also include any restrictions or instructions related to school. I
f you need more information, please contact KSB nurses.

What To Tell Myself When I'm Feeling Discouraged
This is tough. But so am I.
I may not be able to control this situation. But I am in charge of how I respond.
I haven't figured this out...yet.
This challenge is here to teach me something.
All I need to do is take it one step at a time. Breathe. And do the next right thing.
Hello Folks,
Welcome to the 3rd edition of Dorm Happenings for the 2025 calendar year. We have had a busy week with our middle school short course students on campus this week.
We kicked off the week on Sunday with a meal of chicken tenders and tater tots for the students when they returned to campus. After supper we had a short meeting with students and discussed the events upcoming for the week and checked with everyone on how the weekend went for each of them.
Sunday night we had an open gym session in the recreation gym, had snacks and drinks then watched the end of the NFL playoff game between the Eagles and the Commanders.
On Monday the dorm students were treated to an all-American meal of hot dogs and chili and all the fixings prepared by Ms. Renee is one of our campus chefs at the cafeteria. Then our students' elementary students were in the recreation gym with Mr. Larry our recreation director playing Simon Says and working on fine motor skills movement. The other groups were in the dorm basement later with Mr. and Ms. Aaron and their dogs.
On Tuesday our elementary students were in the rec. Gym with Mr. Larry and they continued working on fine motor skills movement with learning multiple body parts and beginning the game skills needed for "The Hokey Pokey". They began with great body awareness but some trouble with right and left, but after a few minutes they started getting the grove of the Shaking it all about. For supper at the cafeteria the students had another good hot meal of bar-b-Q chicken, scalloped potatoes and fresh fruit prepared by Ms. Renee, many requested more chicken, but nobody was willing to part with their bar-b-q chicken for the night. After supper the students spent some time in the dorm, but were glad to get out as some went on outings for OM and other went to rec. In the rec gym Mr. Larry had students work on spatial awareness with spacing and learning directions and using fine motor skills and directions from north, south, east and west. Students also got a chance to play billiards, pop a shot and watch the new Big Screen TV in the lounge of the recreation gym.
Wednesday was another wonderful day with the elementary students learned more about Simon Says, Hands on the clock and body and arm positions at 3-6-9 and 12 o'clock. Working on balance and listening and following directions. They also got to work on the next steps in the Hockey Pokey. Then for supper that night Ms. Tamika prepared a meal of tomato soup and grilled cheese. The grilled cheese was a hit with a large portion of the students. Then after supper the middle school and high school students were in the scouts and Mr. Otis and Mr. Larry along with another Scout Landon S. teaching the other students how to tie different types of knots for different purposes. We also had a group working in the craft room creating posters for our upcoming Valentines Day party and dance in February.
On Thursday night to end the week we had to play through the rain to get to the cafeteria for supper and then to the rec. Gyn for activity time. The students were ready to play with the remote-controlled cars, where they worked on the fine motor skills and the ability to move forward and reverse and right and left. The elementary students were riding bikes, and another round of Simon Says and the time and space game. The students learned about spots on a clock at 3-6-9-12 o'clock. We also had students playing air hockey and pool to close out the end of the week.
It has been another fun and exciting week here at the Howser dorm on the campus of KSB. We look forward to seeing you everyone next week.
Until Next Time.
