Dress for the Weather
In Oregon, we recess outside. As winter weather sets in, please be sure that students are dressed appropriately for outdoor recess. Daily recess is an important part of our schedule, and we encourage students to wear warm coats, hats, gloves, and boots to stay comfortable and enjoy their time outside.
**Please put names in your students jackets and winter wear.
Resource Room
If your family needs support with winter clothing, our School Resource Room is here to help! We have an assortment of winter weather items available, including coats, boots, and other clothing essentials. Please reach out to the front office or Mr. Hampton if you need assistance.

Each class is be collecting items for a different themed basket that will be auctioned off at then auction. Please check out the links below on what is already being donated and add what you are able to donate, to help avoid duplications. We appreciate everyone’s help in collecting goodies for these! LEGO STEM Explorers
at Ewing Young
Register for Journey to STEAM for an adventure with our LEGO STEM Explorers program, where students dive into fundamental concepts of science, technology, engineering, and math through imaginative LEGO builds and hands-on projects. Students will explore exciting topics such as energy and motion, rockets, and gravity. This program combines LEGO construction with interactive science experiments, fostering critical thinking, creativity, and a love for STEM.

Chess Wizards @ EY

LEGO Club
(Elementary & Middle School Students)

Lego's provided. Youth are invited to go the Newberg Public Library and build with bricks and take the LEGO Challenge!
The room will be monitored, but not supervised. Children under 10 must be accompanied by teens or adults.

Chehalem Cultural Center Events

Spring Break Camp 2025 - Registration opens in February. These three day camps will be March 24th - 26th. (9am-3pm for Ages 5.5-Ages 11) (9am-Noon for Ages 3-5.5). Check back in March 2025 for Summer 2025 info & registration links for Ages 3-11 scheduled for July 7th- August 8th.
Paper Gardens Creative Writing Contest
Paper Gardens is an annual creative writing contest sponsored by the Arts Alliance of Yamhill County. Writers who live, work or go to school in Yamhill County are invited to submit original poetry or prose. Prose categories are fiction or creative non-fiction. Poetry categories are traditional, free verse, haiku/tanka, and poetry of place-Oregon. Judges' selections are published in the Paper Gardens anthology. All published writers receive a copy of the book and are recognized at the book release celebration hosted by the Chehalem Cultural Center.

15th Annual Yamhill County Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration
A one-hour dramatic presentation - using live music, spoken word, and multimedia to bring to life Martin Luther King Jr.'s "Knock at Midnight" and portions of America's Civil Rights Movement. Challenging audiences to listen for and respond to the unique call upon their lives to serve others for the betterment of their communities. Featuring Newberg students and community leaders.
