Mr. Kirschenbaum, ELA
his week, we will focus on adding dialogue to our narrative writing. Remind your student that s/he should be working on their Independent Book Talk to share before the end of the advisory.
Mx. Gomez, Math
In math 6 this week, we are diving mid-unit into proportional relationships which work with a unit rate and equivalent ratios. Parents are encouraged to practice multiplication tables and long division with their students.
In math 7, we have begun a new Unit Introducing Proportional Relationships. Students are aware and expected to complete 2 Zearn lessons over the weekend to bolster the information we covered in class.
If you are able to donate, I have linked the math Amazon Wishlist. https://www.amazon.com/registries/gl/guest-view/3HGDSTYZTUUQL
Ms. Wesselhoft, Geography
Students have begun Unit 2 – Sub-Saharan Africa. They have labeled political and physical maps, defined physical geography terms that are helpful to the region, and they have begun investigating thematic maps to tell about the influences/cultures.
Next week, we will finish the thematic map investigation, review for and take a quiz on what we learned. Thursday we have a field

Ms. Sagan, Science
This week in science, students will be exploring the interior structure of the Earth through an engaging scale activity. They will also delve deeper into plate tectonics with a Gizmo activity, and learn about Pangaea and the asteroids that contributed to the extinction of the dinosaurs. Additionally, Roots Quizzes will resume in Term 2, as students have completed all their root word lessons for Term 1.
This week marks the beginning of our upcoming field trips, so please remind your child to pack their lunch and adhere to the behavior expectations during these outings. Lastly, if your child has any missing assignments, we encourage you to ensure they complete these before the end of the term.
Thank you to everyone who has supported the classroom so far - you rock! If you would like to donate to the science classroom, I have included a link to my Amazon wishlist below. I appreciate your support, whether it be through sending pencils, helping your child study for roots, or by checking Aspen. Thank you!
