BOE Election & Vacancy Process Elects Incumbents, Appoints New Member
Notice of School Board Election
Mequon-Thiensville School District (MTSD) Board of Education members Jason Levash and Michael Stadler will each serve an additional three-year term as a result of the spring election on Tuesday, April 1.
Both members ran uncontested to retain their seats and will serve on the Board until April 2028.
On Wednesday, April 9, the MTSD Board of Education appointed Nicholas Korger to fill a Board member vacancy following the resignation of Board Vice President Shelley Burns earlier this month. Korger’s term on the Board begins immediately and will expire in April 2026. Korger was one of seven applicants who engaged in the Board vacancy interview process during the Board’s special business meeting on the evening of April 9. Korger serves as the Assistant General Counsel for the Medical College of Wisconsin, focusing on strategic initiatives involving partnerships, new ventures, and real estate transactions. He resides in Mequon with his wife and has three years of experience coaching in the Jr. Highlanders boys basketball program. Congratulations to Mr. Levash, Dr. Stadler, and Mr. Korger!
April Board Recap
The Mequon-Thiensville Board of Education held two working meetings, one closed session, one regular business meeting, and one policy committee meeting this month, with a final reorganizational/regular business meeting scheduled for Monday, April 28.
April 7 Working Meeting & Closed Session
The Board heard a MTSD Teacher Compensation System Update from Amanda Sievers, Chief of Staff.
The Board convened into Closed Session pursuant to Wis. Stats. 19.85(1)(c) for discussion of the Superintendent’s Evaluation.
April 9 Working Meeting & Special Business Meeting
The Mequon-Thiensville School District Board of Education sought applications from qualified electors interested in serving the citizens and the children of their community through service on the Board of Education. A vacancy was created on the Board of Education due to a resignation. The Board of Education convened for a fifty-minute working session on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, to prepare for the selection process of filling a board member vacancy.
The Board then transitioned to a regular business meeting to conduct the election of a Qualified Elector to Serve on the Mequon-Thiensville School District Board of Education for the term of April 28, 2025, to April 26, 2026 (Board Vacancy).
April 16 Policy Committee Meeting
The Policy Committee took action to approve prior meeting minutes.
April 28 Regular Business & Reorganizational Meeting
Incumbent members Jason Levash and Michael Stadler will take their Oaths of Office, along with newly elected member Nicholas Korger. The Board will also vote to select officers.
