HV Update 4-25-25
A message from your principal, Mrs. Stager
We were treated to a great week of weather coming back from spring break and ended the week with a spirited pep rally! It's hard to believe that by the end of next week we will already be into the month of May. The monthly security drill was held on Wednesday. I was remiss in notifying you on earlier. All went well and regular instruction resumed at the conclusion of the drill.
On Wednesday and Thursday of next week, all students in grades 3, 4, and 5 will be taking the NSJLA ELA assessment. It's imperative students are on time for school those days. Testing sessions will begin after attendance is taken. If a student is not present at the start of the testing session, the session will need to be taken on one of the make-up days. Thank you for your anticipated cooperation!
Have a wonderful weekend and we'll see you back at HV on Monday.
Best,
Allison

Spring has Sprung!... and so have Spring Allergies!
We're looking forward to the budding trees and blooming flowers, but some of us suffer from seasonal allergies! Symptoms include: itchy eyes, scratchy throat, cough, runny nose or congestion, and watery eyes. It could be hard to determine when to keep your child home. Follow these guidelines:
- Keep your child home if he/she does not feel well enough to participate in normal activities, even if fever-free.
- Keep your child home until fever-free for 24 hours without the need to take fever-reducing medication (fever is defined 100.4 and above).
- If nausea/vomiting- keep your child home until at least 24 hours after the last episode of vomiting.
- If your child has strep throat- keep your child home until at least 12 hours have passed since the start of antibiotic treatment and fever-free for 24 hours without the need to take fever-reducing medication and feeling well enough to participate in normal activities.
- If your child is Covid-19 positive, keep home and call your school nurse for the latest guidelines.
- When reporting an absence, please report symptoms and any official diagnoses.
- Obtain a doctor's note if your child is sick for 3 or more days.
- Remind your child about practicing good hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette
