As the principal of this wonderful school , I am delighted to introduce you to our school community and share our commitment to providing an enriching and nurturing educational experience for your child.

Warm regards,
Mrs Annette Van Egmond
Principal
Mrs White is our Deputy Principal and she loves coming to visit Kindergarten to see all of their wonderful work. Mrs White supports all students enrolling at GPS and supports Mrs Van Egmond with running our large school. Mrs White brings her special friend Winston to school to support the students. He is a therapy dog and loves to visit classrooms, hear stories read by the children and go for walks. He does an excellent job of supporting our students when they may need some help and feel good about coming to school.
Welcome to Glendore Public School!
Kindergarten is such a special time filled with new experiences, friendships and learning adventures!
Kindergarten provides the foundation for a child's academic, social and emotional development. As Assistant Principal, my role is to support our students, families and staff in any way I can. I am fortunate to spend time in every Kindergarten class, every week. This allows me to work closely with students and staff to ensure all students have a successful start to school.
It has been lovely to meet new families in the enrolment interviews that have taken place so far. I have also been visiting some of our local early education centres to meet the educators and our new Kinder friends! Visits to our preschools and daycares will continue throughout the year.
To stay up to date with Kinder Transition information, please ensure you check this Smore newsletter regularly. Information will be updated and added as we move through 2024.
If you have any questions about your child's transition to Kindergarten, please do not hesitate to contact me on 0249556644 or glendore-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au.
Thank you for entrusting us with your child's education, I am looking forward to getting to know each and every one of you.
Erin Lewis
Assistant Principal

Many thanks to our P&C volunteers who invoice and pack our uniforms for our families. Unfortunately, they do not have a physical shop for the collection of uniforms. This means all orders need to be placed online and are filled on specific days. Students can buy school hats from the canteen at any time.
When students wear a school uniform, they feel included in our school community. Students, teachers, parents and carers, as well as members of our local community helped develop our school uniform to make sure it:
- meets the requirements of occupational health and safety, anti-discrimination and equal opportunity legislation.
- includes items that are affordable, comfortable and are made from easy-care and easy-wear fabrics.
- is appropriate for the full range of school activities.
- is suitable for all body shapes.

Second Hand Uniforms
We are fortunate to receive pre-loved uniforms from many families. Second-hand uniform sales are held on Flexischools several times a year.
Our P&C will be holding the next second-hand uniform sale on 28th August, 2024.
Parents with a Flexischools account will be able to purchase items in this sale!
During our Orientation Sessions, your child will be supported by a variety of our 2025 Year Six buddies.
At Glendore, students are not allocated a specific buddy. Instead, they are supported by a range of different buddies, usually from the same class. This approach promotes social and support networks and promotes a sense of community and belonging in our school.
Buddies look after the Kindergarten students for the first few weeks of school. Year Six buddies come to the Kindergarten classrooms each lunch and recess and look after our new students in the playground. They help teach our Kindergarten students the school rules and values, assist them with eating times and encourage them to play with their new friends.
Our Kinder cohort average is around 100 students. Some children come to school knowing many children, while others come knowing no-one. We use a range of information including but not limited to; Preschool and Kinder Orientation observations, Transition to School statements, preschool communications, student need, student relationships and gender to form our Colour Groups. Staff endeavour to place your child in a group with at least 1 known child/friend.
As students settle into school routines, we regularly review our Colour Groups. Groups are often adjusted by staff before we formalise Kindergarten classes. This means children may be moved into a different group. Once we confirm our enrolment numbers, we will form our formal Kindergarten classes and no longer use Colour Groups. This will occur in weeks 2 or 3, 2025.

Our P&C plays an important role in supporting the school’s teaching and learning activities and is the forum for parents, caregivers and citizens who have an interest in their children’s education.
P&C Aims
- Bringing the community, students and staff together, to promote the best interests of the school
- Assist in the provision of resources, facilities and amenities for the school
- Encouraging communication, cooperation and participation within the school community
- Providing a forum of discussion on school issues and gathering of ideas
- The fostering of community interest in education
- Our P&C is interested in actively promoting a strong and vibrant school community with open, transparent lines of communication, so to provide our children with a first-class learning environment.
P&C Communication
Information is posted on the school website, posted on our Facebook page and included in our Newsletter. You are welcome to email suggestions to the school at any time on glendorepspandc@gmail.com or secretaryglendorepandc@gmail.com
While not everyone wants to or is able to be a position holder, everyone can be involved. This can include the following;
- reading about what the P&C is doing.
- making suggestions on how we can improve our school.
- supporting fundraising efforts with either time or donations.
- attending meetings to participate in positive, vibrant discussions.
P&C Fundraising
An important element of our P&C is fundraising. The P&C organises numerous fundraising activities each term including Mothers’ Day & Fathers’ Day Stalls, Christmas/Easter Raffles and many more.
Without the support of families, teachers and the wider community in fundraising activities, the P&C are not able to give back to the school. The extra money we raise, the more resources that can be purchased for our school, benefiting all our children. We thank all families and the community for supporting our fundraising activities, so that we can support our school and students!!
P&C Meetings
The P&C meets Mondays, twice a term (Weeks 3 and 8) in the school library. Our meetings start at 6:30 pm and dates are posted on the school website, Facebook page and Newsletter.
A spread of parents from throughout the school helps ensure decisions made encompass and benefit all. The more people involved, the easier it is to enhance our wonderful school community. It’s also a great way to meet other parents.
We look forward to seeing you at our meetings.
