Counselors' Connection
Do you feel like this school year was a struggle for your child? Do you feel your child could use some extra support before beginning the 25-26 school year? If so, there are counseling resources available. Please reach out to Mrs. Hammond or Mrs. Kimbrell in the AJMS counseling department if you’d like more information about summertime counseling resources. Counseling can help children develop skills including time management, emotion regulation, and coping strategies to manage stress and anxiety that will assist them throughout their entire lives.
NEWS FROM THE NURSE!
This is a reminder that all medication in the nurse's office must be picked up by an adult by Friday, May 30th at 11:30 am. Any medication that is left will be disposed of.
Any rising 7th grader that has not received their TDap immunization for 7th grade needs to take care of that before August.
If your student will be needing medication at school next school year please let Nurse Reeves know and she will get you the paperwork you need.

S/O to all my students for doing well on the final exam. You all make me proud to be your teacher. 8th graders the ride has been fun and I am going to miss each of you dearly.
Academic and Cognitive Empowerment
In class with Mrs. Leaphart and Mrs. Connell, students responded to a writing prompt in their journals each day. Students completed a memory book for the 2024-2025 school year. They finished their Charlotte’s Web unit. Students enjoyed breakfast while watching the Charlotte’s Web movie on Friday. All students also completed a phonics assessment for next school year.
This week, Mr. Cauthen and Mrs. Jackson kept students engaged by plotting points on a coordinate graph and connecting those points to draw different animals. They also had students complete a sheet with tessellations, resulting in some attractive examples by a few students. The last activity was addition & subtraction bingo, a fun way to check their knowledge of addition facts and of regrouping processes.
In class with Mrs. Mize, we finished up our lessons on living and nonliving things. We had a day at the “beach” where students got to play various games identifying different objects you would find on or at the beach, as living or nonliving things. They also decided if they were vertebrates or invertebrates, and if they were a vertebrate we classified each as a mammal, reptile, fish, bird or amphibian.
Mrs. Collins and Mrs. Faulkenberry’s classes have finished up Spring benchmarks and solved logic puzzles.
Ms. Hoyer/Ms. Robertson’s students have been playing End Of Year Games (Jeopardy, Family Feud, etc.) They will continue this next week as we wrap up the year. We hope everyone has a wonderful summer!!
