Monroe Memo
September, 2022
Welcome Back!
Families,
Monroe students and staff had a great first week of school! Teachers and students spent time getting to know one another. We also spent time reviewing and teaching school-wide expectations, and teachers started establishing routines to help students be successful!
Before the students arrived for the 2022-2023 school year, the Monroe staff set goals for students' academic and behavior achievement, as well as for their own instruction. To hear more about these goals, please click on this link:

In summary:
-Teachers will help students set learning goals, especially in reading and writing. Teachers will provide timely and specific feedback to students to move their learning forward. Students will monitor their progress towards their learning goals.
-In a district-wide spring survey given to students in grades 3-5, Monroe students indicated that they could grow in the area of citizenship, which includes kindness and empathy toward others. As a result, teachers will spend time learning how to help students succeed in these areas, and daily announcements will focus on these topics.
We look forward to a great school year of learning and growing!

Cell Phone Reminder
Students can have cell phones at school, but cell phones must be turned off upon entering school property and stored in the student’s locker or backpack. Students are not allowed to use cell phones in school or on the playground. If students are found using their cellphones at school, they will turn them into the office for the day. The student can pick it up at the end of the day. If the student is using their cell phone a second time without permission, it will be in the office, and a parent will need to come in to retrieve it.
