STEM Family Night- FREE Event
Our first STEM Family Night of the Year
is November 21, 2024.
Get ready to put your engineering skills to the test at our Balloon-Powered Car Competition! 🏁🎈🏎️ for our upcoming Family Friendly Engineering Night hosted by the BFA STEM Committee!
For the fall 2024 event, we will be building balloon powered cars, with teams’ cars competing against one another! This event will be held on Thursday, November 21st from 5pm - 7pm. This is a FREE event welcome to all BFA students and families! For the event, competitors will design their own balloon powered cars using household materials. Each team will construct one race car and compete to see whose car can travel the fastest and furthest. Ribbons will be awarded to teams for speed, distance, and creativity. The event will include an informational presentation and a preview of competition rules along with some light snacks will be provided during the event.
To help supply the materials for this event, we are requesting a donation of recyclable bottles! Please drop off anytime before the event. There is a bin by the main entrance doors to the school!
Sign up to participate in this free, fun, STEM-tastic evening of friendly competition at BFA!

December CEC Monthly Meeting CANCELLED
We know this is a busy time of year, so the CEC will NOT hold their monthly December meeting. We'll see you in 2025! You can find the agenda and minutes on our webpage.
Thank You For Your Donations!
Together as a BFA community we raised $3,885.80 for Freedom Service Dogs. THANK YOU for your generosity towards this life-changing organization. Additionally, a portion of the proceeds from the Veterans Day themed spirit wear raised an additional $577 that will also go towards Freedom Service Dogs.
As a result of the generous contributions we received, we are proud to announce an EXTRA DRESS OF CHOICE for the entire school on December 2.
Pie Appreciation was a Success
Because of your generosity, all our teachers, staff and administrators will go home with a delicious pie this week in preparation for Thanksgiving. Thank you to everyone who donated!
Thank you to Amanda Trenck and Britney Hubbart for leading the Pie Appreciation Event. From coordinating with teachers, ordering, and distribution later this week, everyone at BFA thanks you.
December PTO Meeting and Holiday Gathering – Save the Date
Make plans to join members of the BFA PTO for their holiday gathering! This FUN event is for all of the adults who make BFA a special community (PTO members AND non-members) and will be held at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 10, at Old Blinking Light (9344 Dorchester St., Highlands Ranch). Dinner will be provided by the PTO, and there will even be a gift exchange! Look for a SignUp Genius to come out soon with more details and how to RSVP.
You’re also invited to join the PTO for their December meeting prior to the holiday gathering at 6:00 p.m. at Old Blinking Light.
Happy holidays!
🎁💝 Holiday Staff Gifting with RaiseRight Ends WEDNESDAY! 💝🎁
If you’re participating in RaiseRight gifting, you have until this Wednesday, November 20 to place your orders for holiday staff and teacher gifts!
To place your RaiseRight order and pay with credit card, visit MySchoolBucks. Staff are grouped by grade or category. Select the appropriate grade or category to open the group window. Use the dropdown menu to select the staff member you’re gifting and enter your gift amount in the “Amount to Pay” box. You may designate how much you would like to give to each teacher/staff member in whole-dollar increments. (You may also elect to have your student's name only, not gift amount, shared with the recipient when you place your order.) Repeat as many times as needed until all of your staff gift orders have been placed. And, don’t forget to check out when you’re all done!
Due to the time needed to calculate all gift amounts, and place and coordinate all gift orders, we cannot accept orders after November 20. Gift cards will be distributed during the last week we are in school before the holidays, and will be in lieu of any other class gift/collection.
Participation in the RaiseRight program is completely voluntary. You are welcome to participate with any amount, or alternatively gift the teachers and staff on your own.
Questions? Visit the PTO webpage or contact Jacqui Condon, RaiseRight Committee Manager.
Give Thanks! Help Us Recognize Our Amazing Aides on December 6
Let’s show our appreciation for all of BFA’s amazing aides with ‘Thank an Aide Day’! We would love to have your students help us shower the aides with thanks by bringing in a small token of appreciation on Friday, December 6 – a card, flower, or one of their favorite things. A list of each aides’ favorite things can be found here. Click on the Instructional Aide Tab.
Calling all Dads: You’re Invited to the Ben's Brigade Meeting on Thursday
You’re invited to attend the Ben’s Brigade meeting this Thursday, November 21, 8 p.m. at Max Taps Highlands Ranch (2680 E. County Line Road). They would love to have more dads get involved!
Ben's Brigade is a PTO group open to all BFA dads that provides a place for dads to get to know each other, as well as opportunities for unique ways to give back to the school and earn volunteer hours. Ben’s Brigade handles work projects around the school, provides volunteers for school functions, and hosts a number of social events throughout the year - some just for dads and some with kids as well.
Contact Curtis Anderson and Trent Ongert, Ben’s Brigade Co-Committee Managers to learn more.

Krispy Kreme Digital Dozens "Spirit Night" Fundraiser Ends Friday!
This month, you have a great reason to indulge in a dozen (or two) Krispy Kreme doughnuts. Now through November 22, over 50% of your order price will be donated back to BFA when you purchase via our fundraising sales page! Simply buy online, visit your local store & redeem using your code. Treat yourself, or even gift them to friends and family.
We can share this link with anyone, and the offer can be redeemed at any location in the country (except Connecticut). So, feel free to share this with friends and family all over America!
After you purchase via the fundraising sales page you will immediately get an email confirmation with a link to access the redemption code. These Digital Dozens are for a glazed dozen only.
These are perfect for stocking stuffers, holiday parties, gifts, or enjoying at home. Our goal is 75 dozen sold which would mean $637 for the PTO! The link will is live NOW, so please spread the word and enjoy some donuts!
2025 BENefit Bash – Auction Items Needed!
The BENefit Bash is the PTO's primary fundraiser this school year. It's a BFA tradition parents look forward to, so we hope you'll save the date! This year’s Bash will be “A Night in Tuscany” held on Saturday, March 8, at Cielo at Castle Pines.
It takes a lot of support to host the Bash--so whether you're new to auctions/events or a veteran Bash volunteer--we could sure use your help!
In addition, we are in need of silent and live auction items! We are looking for a variety of things:
- Physical merchandise or gift certificates for products and/or services
- Tickets for sporting events
- Timeshares / Vacation Rentals
- Special experiences / tours
- Wine / Liquor
- Monetary Donations
Or, if you are connected to any business or person that may be a potential donor, an introduction to them would be amazing as well! Your generosity can make a significant impact on the lives of our students, as the funds raised from these auctions are used directly for improvements at BFA.
If you have something you would like to donate, know of a potential donor, or to volunteer, please reach out to the PTO Fundraising Coordinator, Erin Wiley. Thank you in advance for your support!

Fall Survey Update
Thank you to everyone who filled out the survey! With 751 responses, we are thrilled to have reached over 85% participation in our survey, with several classes achieving an incredible 100%! As parents ourselves, we understand how important your feedback is in shaping the future of our school. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and help us grow and improve together.
Our SAC Surveys provide an excellent opportunity for families to share their insights with the school. They allow us to celebrate what we’re doing well and identify areas where we can continue to grow and improve. Your feedback is invaluable in shaping the future of our school community! We will reach out again in the spring for our next survey.
Here are the classes who reached our goal of 80% parent participation to have an extra dress of choice. The date will be emailed through their teachers!

BFA's Guiding Principles
Mission:
Our mission is to create young adults with character like America's founding Renaissance man, Benjamin Franklin: well-read, scientifically curious, and civically engaged.
Vision:
Our students will excel academically through a challenging, sequenced curriculum that emphasizes math, science, the arts, and literacy. We will be a data-driven institution, focusing on individual students. Our students, teachers, parents, staff, and leaders will be held accountable for the success of our school. Finally, we recognize that an education is incomplete without fostering social emotional development, character, sports, and nature.
13 Virtues:
Temperance, Silence, Order, Resolution, Frugality, Industry, Sincerity, Justice, Moderation, Cleanliness, Tranquility, Purity and Humility.
