CHIPS Weekly Update

We are in the process of planning for the 2025-26 school year. If you haven't already done so, please complete the brief survey linked below to let us know your child's plans for next year.

If your child will be going to kindergarten in the fall, you do not need to make an appointment with our registrar to register for kindergarten, as CHIPS students are already registered for school. An updated physical and immunizations will be required. Please share updated physicals with Nurse Kristen.

Please note that, per Chelmsford Public School's policy, children must be 5 by August 31 to attend kindergarten.

CHIPS will be holding Parent/Teacher conferences in February. Teachers will be sending information to families about conferences in the next week or so, including how to sign up. If you have any questions about conferences, please contact your child's teacher directly.

Although there doesn't appear to be any major snow in the forecast, I wanted to share our snow day procedures for future reference. Please reach out if you have any questions.

• With colder temperatures settling in for the winter, please be sure to dress your child for the weather. We try to get the children outside as often as possible (even when it's cold), and we want them to be comfortable and having fun outside!

• Please take a minute to review our arrival and dismissal procedures for both walk ups and the car line. Following the guidelines helps keep arrival and dismissal safe and efficient, especially during the cold winter months. We'll also be sending home a hard copy of these procedures for reference.

• January 14- NO SCHOOL- Professional Development
• January 20- NO SCHOOL- Martin Luther King Day
• February 6- NO SCHOOL- Parent/Teacher Conferences
• February 17-21- NO SCHOOL- February Vacation

If your child is moving on to Kindergarten next fall, please provide a copy of their most recent Physical, with immunizations, to Nurse Kristen Lynch. If they have an upcoming 5th year appointment, please share once that physical has been completed. I will share reminders again- later in the spring- to submit this information along with further guidance for those students who turn 5 over the summer. This will help get a jump on the process, as Massachusetts requires a 5-year-old Physical including Immunizations, lead test and a current vision screening with stereopsis, prior to Kindergarten entry.

Please use our absence line (978-251-5188 Option 0) or use our attendance email (chipsattendance@chelmsford.k12.ma.us) to report your child's absence from school and be sure to state the reason for the absence (illness, appointment, travel, etc). If your child is out due to illness, please let us know the nature of the illness (fever, vomiting, cough, etc.).
