A Message from the Principal
It's difficult to believe that September is already here, and we've been in school for a month. It has been a terrific start to the school year, and the students and teachers are already connecting and learning at a high level. We are so excited to see the great things that your students will accomplish this year. Remember that "better is a never-ending process," and we are working every day to get better and to continue to make North Middle the best school!
Warmest regards,
Matt Woodley, Principal

September is Attendance Awareness Month
September is Suicide Prevention Month
September is a time to raise awareness about suicide prevention and remind everyone that reaching out for help or checking in with friends and family can have a significant impact. A simple conversation can often make a difference in saving a life. Together, we can make a profound difference in the lives of our children and students by fostering an environment of care, compassion, and understanding.

NFMS school counselors visited 6th grade classrooms in August to get to know our students better and let them get to know us as well. We also completed a lesson highlighting empathy. We will be back to visit our 6th graders in November and will be doing a lesson utilizing YouScience with them at that time where they will explore their interests in future jobs and careers.
We will be visiting our 7th graders the first week of September and spend time introducing them to key support staff, going over key conduct reminders, why words matter (thinking before you speak), and see something/say something (highlighting our P3 app). We will also be visiting all 7th grade classrooms again in September to present "Signs of Suicide". This program teaches students about this difficult topic and encourages them to seek help, how to ACT if they are concerned for themselves, a friend or loved one (Acknowledge, Care, and Tell a trusted adult). If your child is a 7th grader, be on the lookout soon for a parent/guardian letter regarding the program as well as an email. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact your child's counselor (see below).
