Academic Super Bowl - STATE CHAMPIONS!
The Academic Super Bowl team concluded this year’s season on Saturday, April 27th, at Summit Middle School in Fort Wayne. The team competed in the state competition, sponsored by Purdue University. This competition worked a little differently than our conference match in March, because at this competition, you only compete against schools in your own class size, which is based on the current student population. Our scores were then sent to Indianapolis where they were compared with every other Class 2 school that participated across the state on Saturday to declare the state champions.
All of our teams gave everything they had and we were very proud of their effort. The English team opened up with a win with an impressive 21 out of 25 questions correct. The Science team followed up with a win as well with 14 correct answers, and the Social Studies team followed up with a win with 13 correct answers. The Math team unfortunately got beat on the last question of the round, but we got our revenge in the interdisciplinary round with an unbelievable 21 out of 25 questions correct.
On Monday, April 29th, the state rankings were announced. Even with the impressive 21 correct answers, the English team finished 20th in the state. The Math team finished 22nd and the Science team finished in 15th place. The Social Studies team finished in a six-way tie for 5th place, but unfortunately due to the second tiebreaker, we ended up ranking 11th out of the group. That leaves the Interdisciplinary Team of Levi Skiles, Aiden Kline, Isabella Hall, and Tyler Cassidy, who finished not only first in Class 2, but first place for the entire state, so for the second year in a row, Crestview has a state champion team!
I would just like to take a little space to thank everyone for their support this year with the team, from my fellow coaches Ryne Wemhoff, Nichole Gilg, and Peter Kitchen, to Mrs. Yarger and Mr. Hawkins for helping us purchase the resources we needed to do the best we can, but mostly I would like to thank the students. The extra work they put into this competition, plus all of their other homework and responsibilities of other clubs and activities is something I know I wouldn’t be able to handle. So thank you to Tyler Cassidy, Joseph Goldhorn, Aiden Kline, Jaicey Mayer, Declan McVoy, Eli Pflieger, Levi Shoffner, Nolan Zehr, and a very special thank you to the 8th graders, many of whom have been on the team for all three years of their middle school career: Sophia Carter, Isabella Hall, Graham Law, Grace McClellan, Madeline Mullins, Finley Parsons, Levi Skiles, and Lillie Wynkoop. They are going to be a tough group to replace, but hopefully our current sixth and seventh graders will sign up to join our conference champion and state champion team next year, with the theme of Ireland.
Field Day
We will be having field day on May 22nd (rain or shine!). More information to come soon.
8th Grade INFORMATION
All 8th graders should have filled out the google form to pick a class to replace American Sign Language if they had picked this during their scheduling appointment back in February.
The last day of school your student should receive a tentative copy of their 24-25 9th grade schedule. Please double check it carefully and contact the counselor at HNHS if something is wrong or if something needs to be updated. You will have about a week to make any schedule changes.
All 8th graders have been invited to Freshmen Orientation which will be on Friday, Aug 2nd from 12:00 to 3:30 pm. Parents are welcome to join their student at 3:00 pm by entering door 28.
Final Forms - HNHS Athletics
FINAL FORMS REGISTRATION NOW OPEN FOR THE 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR for 9-12 HNHS ATHLETES
Parents must initiate this process by registering their student(s) at FINAL FORMS. Click on the following link to access the registration software. https://huntington-in.finalforms.com/
Returning Athletes:
2024-2025 Athlete Registration – Returning athletes and their parents can login to their accounts to register for next year’s sports. Please note that when you login, you need to switch to the 2024-2025 school forms by clicking the button in the center of the page.
New Athletes:
You will need to create a password for the registration process that you can remember for future years of registration. You will also need to know your son/daughter’s school e-mail to provide where it is requested. Once you have completed all of the registration process and digital signatures, the system will send an e-mail to your son/daughter’s e-mail address. Once they open the e-mail and select the link to Final Forms, they will then need to create a login password, and review and digitally sign the forms.
Please note (for returning and new athletes):
Athletic Registration for 2024-2025 is open! If your student plans to participate in athletics during the next school year, you can complete the process BEFORE you get their physical. By doing this, the answers you provide for the medical documents will automatically feed to the Sports Physical, so you can print and take it along to the doctor. This will alleviate you needing to answer the same questions twice!
At the time of registration, parents must select the sport(s) the student intends to play or registration will remain incomplete. Only after selecting a sport(s) are certain questions and forms made available.
Please make sure that you read the “Student Athlete Handbook” carefully. This document provides information about the Code of Conduct of Athletes and various policies for participation in Huntington North Athletics.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Athletic Department at (260) 356-6104.
7th Grade INFORMATION
There are still a few openings for our new Intro to Ag class for next year. If you would like your child to take this class, please send an email to mbrunson@hccsc.k12.in.us and she will send you an application.
