The CIHS Connection
Cambridge-Isanti High School - August 16, 2024
Welcome to the 2024-2025 School Year
Welcome to the 2024-25 school year! At Cambridge-Isanti Schools, we are dedicated to educating, empowering, and inspiring every student, every day, to reach their full potential. Our strong partnership with the community helps us achieve this goal as we begin another year of growth and learning.
Looking back at last year, we've learned a lot, and we're ready to build on our successes to make our school even better. Our goal is to meet the social, emotional, academic, and physical needs of every student, so they feel fully supported in their education. By doing this, we are helping our students become successful citizens who will make positive contributions to our communities.
Please read through this newsletter carefully, as it contains important information to help you start the school year right. You'll find details about our Open House on August 28th, the schedule for the first week of school, and other key information. If you have any questions or need help, feel free to contact our CIHS Communications Inbox at cihs-communication@c-ischools.org. Let's work together for a year full of growth, learning, and strong community connections throughout the 2024-25 school year!

Attendance Support and Communication
Regular student attendance in high school is crucial for academic success and overall development. Consistent attendance ensures students stay engaged with their coursework, build strong relationships with peers and teachers, and develop the discipline and responsibility needed for future endeavors. Missing school can lead to gaps in learning, lower grades, and decreased chances of graduating on time. By attending school regularly, students set themselves up for success both in academics and in life. For additional information on CIHS Attendance support, please contact our attendance team of John Lawrenz and Jen Wahl. They are both happy to support you and your attendance success at CIHS!
Chemical Health and Counseling Support
The counseling office provides supports to students in relation to academic resources such as student registration, credit recovery, and more. In addition, the counseling office supports students in the areas of mental and chemical health.

2024-2025 Application for Educational Benefits
Our school offers healthy meals each day. We will again be participating in Minnesota’s Free School Meals Program. All students can get one breakfast and one lunch free of charge each day at school. Although no application is required to receive this free meal benefit, filling out the Application for Educational Benefits is still important! Your child(ren) may qualify for other benefits like reduced fees for Athletics and Activities, Community Education, ACT/AP Testing and more. Your application may also help the school qualify for education funds, discounts, and other meal programs.
Free / Reduced meal applications are now available and can be submitted online through Family Access. Log into Family Access, make sure one of your children is listed in the look up at the top, choose Food Service, Application and enter your family information. Applications will also be mailed to all households in the next few days, they can be completed and returned to the Food Service office at 625A Main St. N, Cambridge, MN 55008.
Once your application has been processed you will receive a letter emailed to you. If you do not have an email address in Skyward a letter will be mailed to you letting you know how your family has qualified. Please retain the letter for the entire school year.
If your child qualifies for Free/Reduced meals they may also qualify for reduced fees through the Athletic/Activity Department, Community Education or other fees as applicable. You will be asked to provide the eligibility letter to receive a discount.
Please submit a new application for Free / Reduced meal application before the start of each school year.
If you have any questions please feel free to email: fs_communications@c-ischools.org or dknickerbocker@c-ischools.org or call the District Food Service office at 763-689-6210 or 763-689-6237.

Health Office Reminder
Immunizations are required by Minnesota law and must be completed before students can start school in the fall. Kindergarten, 7th grade and 12th grade students have several requirements. 7th grade students need to show proof of a Tetanus Diphtheria booster shot and meningococcal vaccine after the age of 11. These are required for all students grades 7-12. New in 2021, schools are required to report a second meningococcal vaccine for 12th grade students. This immunization can be given as soon as students are 16 years old.
A copy of the student's current immunization record must be on file at school PRIOR to the first day of school.
Parents may file a medical exemption signed by a healthcare provider or a conscientious objection signed by a parent/guardian AND notarized. Please submit your child’s forms to the health office at their school. * A notary is available at CIHS
IMPORTANT - By law, students will be excluded 30 days after the start of school, which means if students do not have current immunizations or a conscientious objection on file, they will not be able to attend school after October 16, 2024.
For a current copy of your child’s vaccination record call the Minnesota Immunization Information Connection (MIIC) at 651-201-3980 or your primary care provider.
Use this chart as a guide to determine which vaccines are required for school (online, home school, public, or private).
If you need exemption information, the Immunization Form (Immunization and Exemption Form) is available on the MDH website.
Isanti County Public Health has low cost immunizations available for infants, children, and adults who are eligible for Medical Assistance/MinnesotaCare, uninsured, under insured, or otherwise unable to access services. To schedule an immunization appointment at Isanti County Public Health or for more information, call 763-689-1711 or email ICPH@co.isanti.mn.us.
