Week of 10/28
HMS Weekly Update
Week of October 28
Dear Parents/Guardians,
This is shaping up to be a very exciting week at HMS! On Friday, we will host our first school-wide dance of the year! Below, you will see a lot of information regarding the dance. It is important to note that students may only wear a costume to school on Friday IF they use 50 PBIS points for that privilege. Be sure to read the guidelines regarding costumes if your student decides to wear one.
The dance will be over at 4:15. Please make sure your child's ride is at the school by 4:15.
*All 8th grade students will exit the building using the bus drop off/pick up area doors. Parents/guardians of 8th grade students should plan on picking their student up in the bus drop off/pick up area.
*All 7th grade students will exit the building using the main entrance. Parents/guardians of 7th grade students should plan on picking up their student in the front of the building.
Please let us know if you have any questions regarding the dance!
If your student goes Trick-or-Treating, please remind them to keep their candy at home!
Warm regards,
Mr. Endres, Principal
Ms. Coalter, Assistant Principal

FCS coming to HMS!
FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN STUDENTS (FCS) ... COMING SOON TO HMS!!!
Friday, November 1st, will be the beginning of our Fellowship of Christian Students (FCS) Club. All students are asked to pack a lunch & join the group for prayer, a Bible lesson, discussion, fellowship, and even some games if time allows. If you forget to pack your lunch (or packing is not possible), you may get a school lunch & bring it to FCS. Two local youth pastors will be joining us for these FCS gatherings. A student needs to complete a permission slip to attend and simply "check out" our group. You can continue to attend (or decide to stop) as long as you would like. The PERMISSION SLIP (ATTACHED HERE) explains the purpose and vision of the FCS Club and gives a student permission to attend.
We will be joined by Pastor Aaron Leslie (from Judah Tabernacle) and Pastor Steve Combs (from Leave A Mark Church). Meetings will be every Friday during your Lunch AND Ranger Time periods -- yes, that is ONE whole hour together!!
Ava Sherer will be the Student Leader who has expressed her passion to bring this group back to the Middle School. Thank you Ava! Several teachers have volunteered to join our groups, so that these meetings could happen. These teachers will have copies of the permission slip as well. Thanks to these teachers: Mr. Freshkorn, Mrs. Wintle, Mrs. Heiby, Miss Warner, Miss Reed, and Mr. Crallie.
8th Graders will meet in Mrs. Telfer's classroom (Room 114) during the 4 & 5 Lunch/RT periods.
7th Graders will meet in Mr. Lowe's classroom (Room 210) during the 6 & 7 Lunch/RT periods.
A special thank you to Mr. Lowe for allowing the 7th Grade group to meet in his classroom during his lunch period!
The paper permission slip needs to be completed and turned in to Mrs. Telfer before you can attend any FCS meetings. You can find ALREADY PRINTED PERMISSION SLIPS hanging outside Mrs. Telfer's classroom (Room 114) between the main office and cafe staircase.
See Ava Sherer, Mrs. Telfer, or any of the teachers mentioned above, if you have any questions. We hope you decide to join us.

What is PBIS?
PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports.
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based, tiered framework for supporting students’ behavioral, academic, social, emotional, and mental health. When implemented with fidelity, PBIS improves social emotional competence, academic success, and school climate. It also improves teacher health and wellbeing. It is a way to create positive, predictable, equitable and safe learning environments where everyone thrives.
