RULH FFA Travels to Indianapolis for National Convention
The Ripley Union Lewis Huntington FFA attended the 97th National FFA Convention in Indianapolis from October 23rd to October 25th. During the three days the FFA had many exciting and new experiences! These experiences included meeting new people from all over the world, attending the Louisville Slugger Museum, golfing at Top Golf, eating at various restaurants, attending a hypnotist show, visiting Fair Oaks, and shopping! The 97th National FFA Convention was a great opportunity for every FFA member to interact with different members from around the world. All 50 states were at this convention, along with Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. The students that attended the convention had an awesome time and would like to say a big thank you to the wonderful FFA advisors; Mr. Daniel Foster and Mr. Justin Cluxton; the chaperones: Mrs. Elaine Manning and Mrs. Christy Haitz; and the bus driver: Leslie Jones. Without them the trip would not be possible. Blue Jay and FFA PRIDE!

On October 8, 2024, the Brown L.E.A.D.S. Youth Program held its kickoff event, marking the start of an exciting initiative focused on preparing local students for future careers. Held at the Brown County Fairgrounds, the event brought together 48 students, teachers, and school counselors from Eastern Brown, Bright Local, Georgetown, Ripley, Fayetteville, Western Brown, and Southern Hills CTC. More than 30 adult volunteers from the Brown L.E.A.D.S. Adult Program (Cohort One), business partners and various branches of the military from across Brown County joined to support the students.
The event centered on hands-on learning, with 11th-grade students rotating through various stations designed to build essential skills for job success, including Food Etiquette, Financial Literacy, Dress for Success, Resume Building, and Mock Interviews. Students also had the unique opportunity to connect with local professionals and explore post-high school career paths aligned with their strengths and interests.
For more information on implementing the Brown L.E.A.D.S. Youth Program in monthly career preparation classes, school districts are encouraged to contact Ohio Extension Educators Trevor Corboy at corboy.3@osu.edu or Christy Clary at clary.42@osu.edu.
