Updates for 8th Grade Class of 2020
Holy Trinity School - Monday, June 1, 2020
Updates on 8th Grade End of Creative End of the Year Activities/Events:
The health and safety of our students, teachers, and school community is our primary concern during this unprecedented time. Although we may not be able to gather right now, we have many creative virtual opportunities to still celebrate our 8th grade class of 2020.
Surprise Delivery! - Monday, May 18
On Monday, May 18, Mrs. Marentez will be driving around East County to surprise each of our 8th graders with a personalized HT Class of 2020 lawn sign, as well as an 8th grade class of 2020 t-shirt that she designed with the names of the entire class on the back. Thank you Mrs. Naimi and Mr. & Mrs. Farace with Elite Wear for helping us get those t-shirts made for our graduates so quickly! Mrs. Marentez will be starting her route at 7:30am until she visits the last 8th grader in the class.
*KUSI's Good Morning, San Diego, featured a story about Holy Trinity School and staff congratulating 8th-grade students with a special graduation celebration. We invite you to view this special viewing from May 18, 2020.
Graduation Gown Pick-Up - Tuesday, May 19
8th Grade graduation gowns will be available to be picked up on Tuesday, May 19 from 10:30-12pm. Mrs. Naimi will be there to assist with that process. We invite you to take individual pictures of your graduate in their gown, next to or holding their lawn sign, and send it to Mrs. Marentez so that we can recognize and celebrate their achievements with our school community. Under the directives of the Diocese of San Diego, and following the social distancing protocols and gathering restriction order from Governor Newsom, we cannot take an 8th grade group photo as we have in the past. However, once gathering restrictions are lifted, we would still like to take an aeriel group picture of our students in a heart formation, still follow social distancing protocols.
8th Grade Hawk Spotlight
Mrs. Marentez will be featuring various 8th graders starting next week until the last day of school. Students will be asked to fill out this "Hawk Spotlight" form and email a picture dressed up their graduation gown next to or holding their personalized lawn sign. These Hawk Spotlights will be shared and celebrated with our school community.
8th Grade Group Dance and High School Reveal - Monday, June 1 at 5:00pm
Mrs. Marentez would like to work with the 8th grade class for a virtual group dance performance. At the end of the dance performance, each student can reveal what high school they will be attending next school year.
Virtual Awards Presentation - Wednesday, June 3 at 5:00pm via Zoom
We will have a virtual awards presentation to honor and recognize our 8th graders receiving special awards this school year. At the end of the presentation, we will have a special virtual farewell video from several HT faculty & staff.
Special **Drive-Thru Blessing for our 8th Grade Graduates - Friday, June 5 at 11:00am
We would like to invite all 8th grade graduates to the back parking lot for drive-thru blessings with our Fr. Reys. We will have a special bag for each 8th grader with gifts from the school, as well as personalized candy jars prepared for each graduate by Mrs. Naimi and Mrs. Gonzalez. 8th graders are encouraged to come dressed in their graduation gowns. Our HT faculty and staff will be there for waves and smiles celebrating our amazing class of 2020. We encourage 8th grade families to decorate their vehicles for their graduate and make a sign on the rear windshield of what high school they will be attending next school year. (i.e. "Onward to _____________ "or "Our HT Hawk is soaring off to ______________________")
**As the health and safety of our school community is of paramount importance, students must remain in their vehicle at all times.
Graduation **Mass - Friday, July 17 at 5:00pm
We are postponing the graduation mass and ceremony to mid-July with hopes that restrictions for gatherings will be lifted by then. We will continue to update and make changes accordingly. Gathering to celebrate our wonderful 8th grade class of 2020 in-person is a priority, as well as the health and safety of our students and school community. Therefore, we will continue to update parents as plans become more certain regarding this special celebration.
**Based on the CDC guidelines for social distancing, and an approved Covid-19 reopening plan for Holy Trinity Parish, the church may only accommodate a limited number of people at this time. Hence, Fr. Rey would like us to limit the graduation Mass attendees to the graduate and their parents. We plan to provide a live stream of the graduation Mass for other family members and friends to view. As state and local guidelines are rapidly changing, parents will be notified of updates and modifications.
Thank you for your continued understanding and support!
