Students of the Week
Below are the students recognized this week by staff for demonstrating positive character. Great job students, we are proud of you!
Building Security
Below is an excerpt from Mr. Strausbaugh, SJCSD Safety and Security Specialist. Expect that we will be asking everyone for their name prior to entry as well as the reason for their visit, even if we recognize the visitor. Upon entry, guests will be asked to show their ID, which has been our practice. This is being shared so everyone is aware of what is expected, and appreciates the security protocols, even though some may view it as unnecessary. As a general rule, we have been adhering to this protocol. However, we may not always ask the nature of the visit until entry and may not have always asked for a name due to familiarity.
Mr. Strausbaugh:
Although this is not in State School Board rule 6a or state statute, it is a best practice to ask the person’s name and reason for their visit so we can check the name given to the I.D produced once inside the secure vestibule.
From this point forward it will be the directive from our office that all visitors to our schools must use the two-way communication device to identify themselves and state their business at the school. Once this is done and baring anything suspicious on the visual identification through the cameras, the front door will be unlocked, and they will be allowed to proceed into the secure vestibule to continue the vetting process by showing identification and using the visitor managements system.
