Rainy Day, Dream Away
Apparently Mother Nature decided it was winter now instead of waiting a couple more weeks. We've been having a great time this week with the change in weather and doing some fun indoor activities to switch things up for the kids.
Thank you families who attended our unscheduled "Java with Jeff" this week to share your concerns and ask questions about the recent notifications that went home from SDUSD Nursing & Wellness. You had really great questions about our protocols for determining close contacts, quarantine, and the safety measures we're taking on campus.
Next week we will be distributing COVID testing kits to each student to be used two different times over Winter Break. Each kit includes two tests to be used right before we return to school on Monday 1/3/22. One test should be administered on 12/31, and the other in the morning of 1/3/22 prior to returning to school. There will also be instructions in English and Spanish with a 1-800 number to call for support. You do not need to report your results to the school, nor is this a condition to return. The California Department of Public Health wants to provide these at-home tests for personal use.
Speaking of next week, we're expecting colder temperatures throughout the week, so please dress your student in layers. We have to keep windows and doors open to maximize airflow in the classroom as a COVID safety precaution. Additionally, we are practicing a Fire Safety Drill on Monday morning.
Lastly, one final quick reminder- Friday, December 17th, is a minimum day. Please plan to pick your student up at 12:00PM.

for the storm to pass.
It's learning to dance
in the rain."

Vaccination Clinic Hosted at Fletcher in January
We are incredibly excited to announce our school's partnership with Champions of Health, a local non-profit organization, to host a COVID and Flu Vaccine clinic at Fletcher Elementary on January 4th and 25th from 2-6PM. This is a FREE walk-in clinic, where students and adults will have access to COVID & Flu vaccines from Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, and Moderna in adult, pediatric, and booster doses.
If you take your student to receive their first dose of the COVID vaccine next week (December 13th-17th) they will be able to receive their second dose at Fletcher on January 4th. Please check with your student's pediatrician first before making any plans to follow this timeline.
SDUSD Nursing & Wellness has updated their guidance for fully immunized students that will allow them to remain in school if they are a close contact. Additionally, if they do show symptoms, a single negative test result would allow them to return to school immediately.
COVID vaccines have received FDA Emergency Use Authorization for all children aged five and older. At this point, only students age 16 and up are required to be fully vaccinated prior to January 24th. For more information about the location of other vaccine clinics and the mandate for older students, please visit: https://sites.google.com/sandi.net/nursingwellness/covid-19-vaccine.
Student of the Week - Juan!
This week's Student of the Week is Juan in Mrs. Logan's 2nd grade class! He is recognized for being a positive influence on his peers. Juan models hard work each and every day and completes his assignments on time with full effort. He is respectful, kind, and a great teammate when playing flag football at recess. Congratulations Juan and thanks for being a phenomenal falcon!
Report an Absence Online
Although we want students to be in school each day for class, we know that absences will happen. It is important that parents report their student's absence within 24 hours. Absences can be reported via our online form, phone or email. Please let us know if you have any questions and thank you for your support.
FREE COVID TESTING SITE - 7 DAYS A WEEK
The site is open from 7:00AM - 7:00PM MONDAY through FRIDAY and 8:00AM - 5:00PM on Saturday and Sunday. No appointments necessary! Prior to testing, if your student isn't already registered to receive weekly testing on site, families will need to register for a Primary Health Portal account. https://my.primary.health/l/sdusd_testing.
