Longhorn Ledger
January 14 - January 17
Principal Press
Greetings Longhorn Families,
Today marks the first day of quarter 3 and semester 2. It is a great time to start fresh and seize every opportunity the new school semester has to offer. The best way to support your student in this work is to remind and help them check myStudent frequently and encourage them to complete each and every assignment to the best of their ability. It is also a great time to revisit expectations and emphasize the importance of following our PBIS expectations of being Responsible, Accountable, Problem Solvers on campus. This helps create a positive and productive learning atmosphere.
January's resiliency skill: Honesty. Honesty involves being truthful in our words and actions. To support this at home, please refer to the attached Honesty Parent Guide for ways to discuss this important skill with your child.
Beginning this Tuesday 1/14, students will follow their semester 2 schedule.
As always, thank you for taking the time to read this week’s Longhorn newsletter and for being our partner in your child’s education. Your involvement truly makes a difference.
Warmest Wishes,
JLMS Administration

Car Loop Procedures Reminder
There are two ways to drop off/pick up your student in the AM & PM: pulling up in the interior lane of car loop or parking in a space where students cross in the crosswalk.
CAR LOOP – AM Drop off Procedures:
Parents/Guardians should stay in the interior lane of the car loop closest to the sidewalk and pull all the way forward to the front of the car loop which is located right across from the band room. Students may only exit from the passenger side of the vehicle. Parents may not allow students to exit vehicles in the exterior lane closest to the lot spaces. This is a major safety issue. Parents may also park in the parking lot and walk their child to the crosswalk. A staff member will safely cross your child to the sidewalk. Student drop off begins at 8:50 am.
CAR LOOP – PM Pick up Procedures:
Parents/Guardians may stay in the interior lane of the car loop or park in the open spots of the parking lot. If you stay in the interior lane, you must stay in your car. Please pull all the way forward to the front of the car loop. Students will be able to board their vehicles from the passenger side in the areas designated by JLMS staff. If you park in the parking lot spaces, you must exit your vehicle to come to the crosswalk, and then we will safely cross your child at that time. Students will not be permitted to walk across the parking lot to their vehicles without being accompanied by an adult.

Science Instructional Materials Adoption
The Pasco County School District is participating in a full-scale K-12 adoption of Science instructional materials aligned to the Florida’s State Academic Standards for Science. We would like to invite you to be part of the narrowing team, which serves to review and narrow the materials submitted by publishers during the adoption process. To submit your interest for an opportunity to serve on the narrowing team, please complete this form. There is an 8-10 evening commitment for this work. A detailed list of courses to be reviewed, dates, and times of narrowing team commitments are available on the instructional materials adoption website. The deadline to submit your interest is September 20, 2024. Parents/guardians selected through the randomized screening process will be notified by October 7 via email. We appreciate your partnership in this very important work.
