Lansing Elementary Weekly Update
Newsletter for the Lansing Elementary School Family
Our School Rocks!
Inspiring a love of learning in a safe and collaborative environment!
September 17, 2022
Dear Families,
We had a great week with picture day, our first crisis drill, a mini-cheer event, and a PTA meeting. Our picture re-take information will be forwarded soon. If you are interested in joining our PTA, please go to https://lansingpta.memberhub.co
As a reminder, we have staff development this week on Monday, September 19th. There will be no school for students on this day. Teachers are receiving training from our Director of Emergency Preparedness and are completing additional required trainings.
We started reading and math interventions this week. At Lansing Elementary School, we assess our students three times a year in both reading and math. If student scores indicate additional supports are needed, we group students and provide additional math and/or reading during the school day.
We have four Title 1 interventionists at Lansing Elementary School who provide reading and math support. We will have a Title 1 meeting October 12th at 6:00PM. Information will be coming home to families receiving this service. If you have any questions regarding the MTSS screening process, interventions or Title 1, please contact Holly Kane (MTSS interventionist) at holly.kane@usd469.net.
Reminders:
Safety: We have implemented increased security measures. Visitors will not be allowed to enter the building during arrival or dismissal. All visitors will need to call ahead or use the walkie-talkie at the entrance.
Attendance- Please call us at 913-727-1128 in the event your student will not be at school, will be in to school late, or needs to leave early. This allows us to accurately record attendance. We have started reaching out to families if students have accumulated 3 or more unexcused absences this year.
Traffic: Please remain in your vehicles during car rider pick up. Thank you for following our traffic protocol.
Going Home: Please remember to call in any ride changes before 3 PM. The number to call is 913-727-1128.
Bus Transportation: must be pre-arranged by families. If your student rides the bus, you may want to use the Compass app (see info below). This provides parents and guardians about bus information in real-time.
Breakfast/Lunch: School meals are available for purchase this year. Information about free and/or reduced meals can be found here:
