National Suicide Prevention Month
September marks National Suicide Prevention Month –a time to acknowledge the individuals, families, and communities that have been impacted by suicide. It is also a time to raise awareness about suicide prevention and share messages of hope. (SAMHSA)
Protective Factors can help prevent suicide. Protective factors can include:
Family support
Positive friends
Mentors
Healthy activities
Medical access
Mental and physical health and wellness
Conflict resolution skills
Sense of belonging and success at school
Your school counselor is here to partner with you to increase protective factors for your student; reach out any time to see how they can help!
Everyone in our community can help prevent suicide by following these 5 steps:
1) Ask: Don't be afraid to ask the question 'Are you thinking of committing suicide?' and then LISTEN
2) Be there: Being present for the person and then following up
3) Help keep them safe: Finding out what their circumstances are and then helping them feel supported and safe
4) Help them connect: Developing a safety plan and connecting them with resources (988 is a valuable resource for those in crisis)
5) Follow-up: Checking back with them to see how they are
Call or text 988 for the national suicide prevention hotline. Since the July 2022 launch, 988 has received more than 5.5 million calls, texts, and chats. This past July, text and chat were made available in Spanish. The hotline now offers ASL support too.

Chromebooks
If you are in need of a Chromebook or have any issues with your device, please see a MVHS library staff member.
It is a TSD expectation that every student checks out a district issued device to use while on campus. It is also a TSD expectation that students bring their device fully charged and ready to use every day to class. Students are responsible for damages and/or loss of the Chromebook device that is assigned to them. The replacement cost for all device models is $245 per the TSD website. Please see the Thompson School District Tech4All website for more information and to read the Acceptable Use Policy.
TOL students will get their devices from TVHS and will need to reach out to them regarding the best time to pick those up.
SOARS students will get their devices from their home school. MVHS SOARS students can contact Mrs. Bass or Mrs. Gebhardt at 970- 613-7859 to coordinate a time to pick up a device.
Please note that a device for the 23-24 school year will NOT be given to students who have outstanding Chromebook devices from MVHS or other TSD schools AND/OR students who have outstanding fines for lost Chromebooks.
Have a device that needs to be returned or is yours giving you trouble? Please see a Library Staff Member or the MVHS Front Office Staff.
________
Tech4All Program with Thompson ISD
Welcome to TSD’s 1:1 program, a vital component of Thompson’s Strive 2025 Strategic plan. Our 1:1 program has been rebranded as Tech4All, enhancing student learning through technology. We invite you to be our valued partner as we empower and equip every student with the digital tools they need to thrive in today's rapidly evolving digital world. Tech4All supports TSD’s strategic plan by providing digital tools;
our students can "demonstrate their learning in meaningful ways", including using the digital tools of their future,
we are creating "learning conditions that enable students to reach their fullest potential."
With Tech4All, students will have the opportunity to harness the full potential of technology in their educational journey. Whether it's exploring interactive digital textbooks, collaborating with peers on virtual projects, or engaging in immersive educational experiences, the possibilities are truly limitless. Each student will receive a TSD digital learning device, ensuring equitable access to resources and enabling personalized learning experiences.
K-1st grade will receive an iPad
2-5th grade students will receive a touch screen Chromebook
6- 12th grade students will receive a Chromebook
Your child’s device will serve as their digital learning tool for as long as they remain in the Thompson School District. Each year their device will transition to their next grade level and will be replaced when they transition to Middle School or High School.
Students and families are responsible for the care and safety of their district device. Students are expected to bring their device with them to class, charged and ready to go each day. All students will receive documentation on how to maintain their device, keep it safe, digital citizenship and any school specific requirements for digital learning using their district Tech4All device.
Tech4All is not just a program; it's a commitment to bridge the digital divide and empower our students to thrive in the digital age. Together, we will embark on a transformative educational journey that prepares our students for a future filled with innovation and opportunity. There may be questions as we implement Tech4All. Please reference our website for more details including expectations, Frequently asked Questions and Support for home use.
