Welcome to the School Year!

We are so excited to welcome our CES families to the 2024-2025 school year! We hope that everyone had an enjoyable and relaxing summer filled with memories to last a lifetime.

We hope you can join us for our “Meet and Greet” event on August 27th from 3pm-4pm for all grades, preschool to grade 2. This is a great opportunity for you to bring your child to CES to meet their new teacher and see their classroom. During this time, our amazing PTO will be offering a Popsicle Social in the cafeteria from 3 to 4. Our playground will be open for everyone to enjoy some social time.

The first day of school for students for the 2024-2025 school year is Thursday, August 29th. School hours are 8:35 to 3:15 for school-day preschool and kindergarten through grade 2 learners. Drop-off begins promptly at 8:20. Preschool hours are as follows: AM session 8:35-11:05 and PM session 12:40-3:10. Please see attached map and checklist for detailed drop-off and pick-up information.

At the Meet and Greet, when you visit your child's classroom kindergarten through grade two students will be receiving a tag with your child's name, classroom information, and method of transportation. Please review the information on the tag and make any corrections that are necessary. Notify the school of any errors. This tag MUST be attached to your child’s backpack on the first day of school and through the month of September. School personnel and bus drivers use this to confirm that your child is riding the correct bus or being taken to the parent pick-up area. We also use the tag to help children find their classroom, receive personalized greetings from staff, and more, so it’s vitally important that it is accurate.

Transportation schedules are listed in the newspapers in August. If you have any concerns about the posted routes, please call M & J Bus Company (860)537-2622 or our office (860)537-0717 for additional information.

For information about policies, schedules, and events at CES, please see our website at www.colchesterct.org. Our handbook is available through this link and is also online for your reference. We use Parent Square for communication from teachers and our school. If you prefer a paper copy or do not have Internet access, you may fill out a form in our main office to update your distribution preference. If you have any problems joining Parent Square, please let us know.

Our office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. We encourage you to come in or contact us at any time during these hours if you need assistance with anything related to this packet for the upcoming school year.
