Message from Mr. Eiswert
What a great third week we had at the Point! Students and staff have settled into the first quarter and you should begin seeing grades in Schoology and feedback provided by teachers. Please check out your child's Schoology account on a regular basis and contact the school if you have questions or concerns. We have also begun ELA and Math testing in order to provide focused pullout services during Pointer Advisory Period (PAP). Students who may need more support throughout the school year will be pulled out of PAP to get assistance. Students continue to do a great job keeping their electronics away during classes. Thank you so much for your support with this policy. Parents are reminded to not drive into the bus loop during drop-offs and pick-ups. We will be having our first bus evacuation drill this week. Because we are entering our third week, we will be strictly enforcing our lateness policy. Students have 3 minutes to move from class to class and should be in class each period ready to learn.
We ended our week with our annual Faculty v Faculty Volleyball Game during 5th period. Students wore red and blue to support their chosen team and cheer them to victory. Thank you to all the teachers and staff that participated and planned this event. It was a great time for the entire school. Both teams played great, but congratulations go out to the Red team for bringing home the win. Pictures below.
Have a great week!

Dear Parents,
Would your child be interested in participating in the Sparrows Point Middle School interscholastic sports program for the 2024-25 school year? Tryouts are open to all eligible middle school students. Badminton, cross-country, and allied soccer are offered in the Fall. Basketball, cheerleading, and allied bocce are offered in the Winter. Tennis, track & field and allied softball are offered in the Spring. The allied programs are designed for students interested in playing a sport but do not necessarily have the skill or desire to play on a varsity or junior varsity team. Allied sports are co-ed with appropriate rule modifications to ensure a safe and successful non-competitive experience for all students, regardless of ability.
The athletic teams are an incentive/reward for students becoming successful in school. The administration, athletic advisor, grade level team leader, and/or the coach will exclude any contestant who:
* Because of bad habit, or improper conduct, they could not represent the school in a becoming manner.
* The contestant suffered serious illness or injury until that contestant is pronounced physically fit by a physician.
* Is willfully non-proficient in class work and guilty of poor citizenship.
Requirements of Participating Players
· Meet the BCPS academic eligibility requirements (2.0 with no more than one failing grade in the marking period before try-outs.
· Completed Physical Examination, signed by physician.
· Completed online registration through the online FOCUS parent portal.

Transportation
From the Office of Transportation
Please see the attached information regarding the BusWhere App.
As you may recall, last year, the Office of Transportation implemented the use of BusWhere https://youtu.be/eGotAExBerw a location tracking software that allows subscribers to see bus locations in real time on a mobile phone or computer. Via the BusWhere app, subscribers may opt to receive notification as the bus is approaching a designated bus stop or if there is a significant issue causing a delay. If you have not subscribed, it is recommended that you do so.
