EVERYONE LEARNING, EVERYONE LEADING
Dear Longacre Families,
As we settle into the new school year, I would like to share how our school sets important goals for our students. We use a method called the 4 Disciplines of Execution to help staff and students stay focused and achieve our goals together.
Here’s a quick overview of how we do this:
Focus on What’s Most Important: We know that trying to do too many things at once can be overwhelming. That’s why we identify one or two “Wildly Important Goals” (WIGs) for our school and grade levels. These goals will be our main focus, and we communicate them clearly so everyone knows what matters most.
Act on Our Lead Measures: Some actions have a bigger impact on achieving our goals than others. With that in mind, we focus on key actions, called “lead measures,” which help us move closer to our Wildly Important Goals (WIGs). By identifying what works best, we can make sure our efforts are effective and meaningful.
Keep a Compelling Scoreboard: To make our progress exciting, we create a scoreboard that tracks how we’re doing. This scoreboard will be easy to understand and will show everyone how close we are to reaching our goals. Grade level score boards are displayed in our hallways and align with this year's space theme. When everyone can see their progress, it motivates all of us to keep pushing forward!
Create Accountability: Finally, we set up regular check-ins where students and teachers can share their progress on the goals. This helps everyone stay accountable and ensures we keep making progress. By supporting each other, we can celebrate our successes and adjust our efforts as needed.
By using these four disciplines, we create a focused and supportive environment for our students to thrive. Be sure to ask your children about the goals they are setting. Thank you for your continued partnership in your child’s education!
As always, feel free to contact our main office at 248-489-3733 if you have any questions or need assistance.

2024 PTA Reflections- Entries due by October 25th
Theme: Accepting Imperfection
The PTA Reflections program provides students with an opportunity to express themselves creatively and receive positive recognition for original works of art, inspired by a theme. Although organized in a contest format, the goal of Reflections is to encourage participation. Students are celebrated for their participation at every level.
Categories/Divisions
Students may submit an entry in any of the six arts areas listed below. Only original works of art are accepted. Depending on state and local PTA guidelines, students may enter more than one work of art.
The six art areas are as follows.
- Literature
- Music Composition
- Photography
- Visual Arts
- Dance Choreography
- Film Production
Participation in the Reflections Program is organized by school grade. Student works are critiqued with others in the same grade division. This allows recognition and judging of artworks by appropriate developmental age and skill levels. The five grade divisions are as follows:
- Primary – Preschool – Grade 2 or up to age 7
- Intermediate – Grades 3-5 or ages 8-10

Fall NWEA Scores available in Mi-Star
October 2024
Dear Parent/Guardians,
Farmington Public Schools uses NWEA’s MAP Growth Assessment as part of our assessment plan. These assessments help gauge each student’s instructional level and monitor student growth throughout the year. The results from our Fall assessments will be available for parent viewing by October 14, 2024.
Student reports for NWEA MAP Growth are available in MiStar. These reports can be accessed using the following directions:
Log into MiStar Parent Portal

Click on either the Doc image or Upload Documents (see image below)
To help you understand the reports, we have prepared the following information sheets.
No single data point or assessment type provides a complete picture of a child’s achievement. Farmington Public Schools uses multiple data points to support instructional planning as we support students in deepening their understanding of literacy and mathematics.
Thank you for partnering with us during this time! If you have any questions about your student’s report, feel free to reach out to your student’s teacher.
Sincerely,
Rhonda Henry
