Best Practice For Schooling To Help You Be Successful!
Be sure to attend live class each day Monday-Friday for you required session on isntruction. Be sure to work daily OLS lessons to complete and master them as assigned to stay on track. Be sure to complete Progress Learning daily for 15 minutes of Reading and 15 minutes of Math. If you have been assigned Fast Phonics in Reading Eggs be sure to complete 15 minutes of it each day after progress learning time. Be sure to write in your journal each day for 10 minutes, and practice for 3-5 minutes on daily letter name and letter sound fluency homework and upload those assignments to sesaw as they are assigned by your teacher.
Some students only have one 30 minute class a day, some have more for their instructional needs, it is important to be in class each day unless you are sick to help you grow and to get teacher instruction. We know sometimes you will be sick, but please try to plan outings or appointments around your child's class schedule to help them attend both so they do not fall behind in schooling. Anytime you need to be absent please email your teacher to have that great two way communication so we can support your instruction during an absence. Teachers are always willing to help!

TGA and Writing Sample Assignments
Throughout the year in kindergarten your child will use an app called Seesaw to upload teacher graded assignments (TGA's) and writing sample assignments. Your homeroom teacher may assign other assignments in Seesaw to help collect data on student growth.
See on the picture below for the list of TGA's and Writing Assignments for ELA and Math. These will be assigned in class and explained on the assigned date in live class and posted in the Newsletter. They will be due on the due date in Seesaw.
** Please do not begin the assignment until after you have heard the directions assigned in class to help save on any confusion and to help your child not need to re-do an assignment they worked hard on. The list below is for our families by request to see TGA assignments for the year.**
Math TGA #3 will be assigned November 5th 2024
Please do not begin working on this before the due date. You will be given instruction and class time to work on this on the date assigned. The PDF below has the directions and due date for this Math TGA. You can also find these directions in Seesaw under your student's Seesaw account.
Helpful Tips for Schooling
Here are some tips to help you begin your school year with a successful start!
- Students with better attendance achieve more success during the school year.
- Make a schedule in your OVCA planner and get in a routine for your school day. Get your planner from you CFA today! See sample morning and afternoon schedules below.
- Make sure to wake up and eat breakfast and get dressed to begin your school day off with a great start.
- Check your email everyday! Best practice is to check it first thing in the morning and at the end of the day before you log off for the evening.
- Create a quiet learning space that has all your materials easily accessible.
- Schedule Brain Breaks throughout the day. (Here are some great ones!)
- Expect your student to school for 6 hours (give or take) with breaks and lunches.
- Remember starting out can be difficult, but making mistakes is okay. Do not be scared to reach out for help!
- Always communicate with your teacher and CFA, we can help with anything if we know about it and we can adjust things to help you school successfully!
