What's been happening at Burke Town School
The last two weeks have been busy and full of fun. Multiple classes have held classroom rewards, and we had our very first School Wide Reward! On Wednesday, students mixed into cross grade groups and competed in 10 different challenges. The team that had the best time for all events won, and that was Team 9! We held a cross country meet as well, and our Burke athletes did amazingly well. It was such a pleasure to see all of the runners from different schools competing on our campus. Thank you to our amazing coaches, Lindley van der Linde and Lisa Mason for helping create a love for running!
As for academics, our iReady testing window is closed and classrooms are fully into their new learning. 2nd grade did some super fun science work while Kindergarten went outside to explore the environment with magnifying glasses and learn about frost. 7th and 8th grade community project groups are busy launching their projects. There are groups working on mental health awareness, re-building a bridge in the woods, a proposed disc golf course, and more. 3rd and 4th grade students are busy preparing for Mrs. Surridge's Veteran's Day celebration. We are busy and learning here at BTS!
