We hope the back to school transition is smooth for you and your family. We are excited to have our halls once again filled with the excitement, learning, and laughter of our students.

Back to School Night Information: On behalf of all of us, it is a pleasure to invite you to our Back to School Night, which will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2023. This event is always a wonderful opportunity for establishing open communication between our parents and teachers. Our goal is to brief you on your child's upcoming educational experiences for this school year. Please review the schedule that is listed below. Our 4th and 5th Grade Band Directors, Mrs. Meelheim and Mr. Leighty, will be holding a meeting for parents whose children are interested in joining our 4th and 5th grade Band on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at 7:00 PM in the multipurpose room at Cedar Creek Elementary School. Mrs. Meelheim and Mr. Leighty are the 4th and 5th grade band directors for all three of our 1st through 5th grade elementary schools this year. Cedar Creek Elementary School is located at 220 Western Blvd, Lanoka Harbor, NJ 08734.

More Upcoming Events:

School Picture Day - Thursday, October 5th - Our annual student Picture Day is scheduled for Thursday, October 5, 2023. An ordering envelope from Cimino Photography will come home the week prior. Parents can complete the ordering envelope, enclose payment, and send your child to school with the envelope on School Picture Day. We will have a make-up picture day later in the school year for students who are absent and / or need picture retakes.

New Jersey Week of Respect – October 2nd through October 6th – Is designed to

encourage and promote positive social skills and mutual respect among all even when our

opinions differ.

PTA Color Run – Friday, October 13th - Our dedicated PTA will host a Color Run fundraiser on Friday October 13th at 5:00 PM in the back of the Forked River School . Thank you to Mrs. Spicher, our PTA President, Mrs. Van De Water, our Color Run Coordinator and executive board member, as well as all of our executive board members and Color Run volunteers for your continued efforts to provide value-added experiences for our students here at the Forked River School! The Forked River School PTA would like to thank all of the parents who will be joining the PTA this year.

Fire Prevention Week – October 9th through October 13th – Please check your smoke

detectors at home, practice a safe escape route with your children, and review your safe meeting place with your family.

Staff In-Service Day - Friday, October 6th - Lacey Schools will be closed for students due to a staff training day.

Columbus Day - Monday, October 9th – Lacey Schools will be closed for students

in honor of Columbus Day.

New Jersey Violence and Vandalism Awareness Week – October 16th through October 20th

– This week is designed to promote conflict resolution, student diversity, and

tolerance.

Halloween – Tuesday, October 31st - Our students who wish to participate are encouraged to dress up for our annual Halloween spirit day!

the most important activities in developing and enhancing both language and reading skills
