Hello Makalapa Families!

My name is Jeddie or Ms. Jeddie, and I am one of your front office assistant(s). I joined Makalapa a month ago, but I’m also a proud Jr. Ram alum, having graduated in 2012! It’s been such a full-circle moment to return and serve the school community that shaped me. As a front office assistant, I help ensure the office runs smoothly by assisting families, staff, and students with their needs. I will also be starting to enroll new students for the upcoming school year, so if you have any questions, I'd be happy to help. During my time here, I've had the pleasure of meeting many students and staff, and I look forward to continuing to support our Makalapa ʻohana!

Are you passionate about fostering a positive and safe environment for elementary-aged students? We’re seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our team as Adult Supervisors. In this role, you'll work closely with students during recess and lunch periods, reinforcing school rules and expectations to ensure a respectful and secure atmosphere. If you enjoy working with young learners and are committed to promoting a positive school environment, we’d love to hear from you!

The Chess Tournament is open to anyone who is in Chess Club. Our Chess Clubbers have been learning and practicing all year. Now it's time to show off those skills! We send a big 'Thank You' to Mr. Au and Mr. Yanos for their hard work and dedication! You're teaching our kids valuable planning and preparation skills!

April is Month of the Military Child. We're taking this opportunity to recognize the bravery and adaptability of our students from military families. These children often face unique challenges, and we're proud to celebrate their strength and resilience. You're tough kids, and Makalapa is honored to educate you!

We send a big roaring McTHANKS to everyone who came to McDonalds and supported our school by donating money and buying food. You've given our service groups a great resource so that they can make good things happen at the school. Thank you to all of our staff, faculty, and students who helped make McTeacher Night a success.

Big congratulations to our winners, The Deng Family, and the Ismail Family! You beat everyone and are the Jenga Throwdown Champions! Thanks so much to those of you who joined us during our 1st annual Jenga competition, let's do it again next February! I will add in some compensation heats!!

Big shout out to the PTA and to all of the parents that support their fundraisers. They bought the PCNC 18 Jenga games to make this activity possible!

Our wonderful Librarian Mrs. Kawasaki puts on an event called Read Aloud every year. She collects notable people and places them in our classrooms to read good books to our students. This year we got some active duty military members, UH volleyball players, legislatures, policemen, and firemen! What an awesome event, thank you Mrs. Kawasaki for all of your hard work.

Big thanks to the PTA for buying our school a brand new Ram Mascot Costume! Ballots will go out to the students so that they can name the Ram by vote. You can find the parent vote below. Our volunteers who serve on the PTA are such a valuable asset, we appreciate you all!
