11 de abril (4º y 7º grado, estudios sociales)
Del 15 al 17 de abril (matemáticas para los grados 3-8)

Our busy classrooms
1st Grade
1st grade has been learning about different types of habitats from the Arctic to the East African Savanna to the Sonoran Deserts! Students have been excited to discuss what they have learned about each habitat and how animals adapt and survive. Students are also continuing to learn about place value in math that will teach them life long skills well into adulthood! Students have been curious about place value by using different strategies of adding and subtracting tens and ones and using math tools such as money and manipulatives to get hands on experience with place value.
3rd Grade
We are really focusing on reviewing skills to prepare for the CMAS testing such as breaking down prompts and word problems. We are also working on highlighting key parts with pink to think and blue to do. In math, we are reviewing some fractions skills and composite area. In reading, we will be studying the different Native American groups found in the United States.
5th Grade
5th Grade has completed our decimal unit in math and will finish the year learning about 3 dimensional figures and coordinate planes. We are also reading our novel, "Holes", and we cannot wait to dress up like our favorite characters when we're done! We will soon celebrate all of our hard work this year at an exciting STEM field trip. More information to come!
7th Grade
Students have been working on writing. We’ve been exploring how to ensure we understand writing prompts, gather the best evidence, organizing, and overall be more effective writers and communicators.
CLDE
Our CLDE program is proud of the hard work our students put into completing the ACCESS Test last month, which measured their progress in English language development. As we transition into the next phase of the school year, we are now preparing for the upcoming CMAS test following Spring Break. This is an important opportunity for students to demonstrate their academic growth in core content areas. We will continue to support our multilingual learners with targeted instruction and test readiness strategies to help them feel confident and prepared.
Special Education
Students in Ms. H's CSD classroom enjoyed celebrating stellar behavior and hard work during the third quarter with a fun baked potato party! Ms. H's class has been working hard on practicing more independence throughout their days and demonstrating problem solving skills when things don't go as planned. The hard work put in by students paid off, and they had lots of fun picking toppings for their baked potato and coloring in their own paper baked potatoes!
Sports and clubs at Mountain Vista
Track season also begins this month. Our first track meet will be on April 8, 2025.
On our April calendar, there are also clubs that students are welcomed to join for all grades!
