Dear Roy DeShane Families,

Happy Sunday! We hope you had a wonderful, relaxing and fun spring break! We are so excited to see our students tomorrow. April and May bring so much fun and excitement - stay informed with communication from us and your child’s teachers, as well as the website calendar. Read on for more information!

Dress for the weather: Tomorrow’s “feels like” temperature during lunchtime recess is 29 F. Please send your child to school with a coat. We’ve had many students coming to school without coats in freezing temperatures (32 F and below). Please see this chart for guidelines: Dress for the weather.

Bulldogs of the Month! Our Bulldogs of the Month for March are pictured below! We are so proud of our students who are living the Roy DeShane motto each day!

Author Visit! New York Times bestselling author, Andy Griffiths will be visiting Roy DeShane on Friday, April 11! His newest book, Adventures Unlimited: You and Me and the Land of Lost Things is available for students to purchase and they will receive a personalized, autographed copy. Here is the order form.

ISA testing for 5th grade: 5th and 8th graders in Illinois take the Illinois Science Assessment each year. Roy DeShane 5th graders will take this test on April 8th, 10th, and 11th (please note: the dates in my previous newsletter were incorrect - my apologies!) Please make sure your 5th grader is ready:

✓a good night’s sleep

✓healthy breakfast

✓fully charged device

✓headphones

✓healthy snack

If your child is late or absent, we will have them participate in a make-up exam at a later date.

Food Drive and Spirit Week: CCSD93’s schools once again ask families to donate to the Community-Wide Food Drive, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Carol Stream. It helps to restock local food pantries that serve all of CCSD93’s communities.

CCSD93 STEAM Camp Returns This Summer! Current 1st-7th Graders Invited to Register for 4/7-4/18: CCSD93's STEAM Camp is returning this summer June 23-27, 2025! Current 1st-7th graders can register to attend for the week to experience immersive science, technology, engineering, arts and math activities taught by CCSD93 teachers! Registration opens April 7 and runs through April 18 at www.ccsd93.com/STEAM!

Colecta de Alimentos y Semana del Espíritu Escolar: Las escuelas del CCSD93 invitan nuevamente a las familias a donar a la Colecta de Alimentos Comunitaria, patrocinada por el Club Rotario de Carol Stream. Esta iniciativa ayuda a reabastecer las despensas de alimentos locales que atienden a todas las comunidades del CCSD93.

¡El Campamento STEAM del CCSD93 regresa este verano! Invitamos a los estudiantes de 1.º a 7.º grado a inscribirse del 7 al 18 de abril: ¡El Campamento STEAM del CCSD93 regresa este verano del 23 al 27 de junio de 2025! Los estudiantes de 1.º a 7.º grado pueden inscribirse para asistir durante una semana y experimentar actividades inmersivas de ciencia, tecnología, ingeniería, arte y matemáticas impartidas por maestros del CCSD93.
