Linden Middle School
May Newsletter
Dear LMS Families,
Its hard to believe but we are into the last month of the 2023/2024 school year. Reflecting on the past 10 months, there have been so many highlights. The growth and maturation of the students has been quite impressive. It has been a great year here at Linden Middle School. Please remind your student that we still have unfished business. With the warm weather and busy night activities, it is easy to become passive with school responsibilities. We need to stay focused and finish strong.
To all of the eight graders. I am excited to celebrate your accomplishments at the 8th grade Recognition on May 30th. I will send a separate communication to all 8th grade parents and guardians with details of the event in the near future. I understand many of you are feeling anxious about the big move to Linden High School next fall. Moving to a new building, with so many unknowns, is an unnerving and anxious feeling for both parents and students. Like everything, those feelings will pass with time. I have all the confidence that LMS has prepared all of our students to successfully transition to their next destination. Go enjoy the journey and make memories. You got this!

SOAR Leadership Applications
Attention 7th Grade Parents:
We are currently accepting applications for our SOAR Leader program. SOAR Leaders are 8th grade role models who team with our 6th graders to help welcome and transition them to the middle school. SOAR Leaders engage in fun, community-building activities with their 6th grade buddies throughout the school year.
We are looking for SOAR Leaders with the following qualities and characteristics:
- Friendly towards others
- Make an effort to include everyone
- Have good school attendance
- Demonstrate leadership qualities
- Work hard and try their best in school
- Earn 3s and 4s for their SOAR citizenship scores
- No discipline referrals this year
Please Note: SOAR Leaders MUST be able to attend training on Tuesday, August 6 and 6th grade orientation on Thursday, August 8. Any leader who misses required dates will not be eligible to continue as a SOAR Leader.
Applications are located on the LMS website under School Counseling.
You can view these slides for more information
There are a limited number of SOAR Leader spots available. Filling out this application does not guarantee you a spot. Leaders will be selected in mid-May.
Any questions can be directed to Mrs. Gambrel at jgambrel@lindenschools.org
Counselors' Corner
The summer months are a time for relaxation and fun. Summer also means less structure, routine, and built-in supports for students. We have provided a list of counseling resources for families seeking counseling support over the summer months and beyond.

Assistant Principals' Corner
LMS Families,
As we enter the last few weeks of school, there are a few hot topics I request you speak with your children about to finish this year strong. The first being our dress code here at LMS. As the weather begins to become more and more beautiful, please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for school. If you think an outfit may be a dress code violation, please tell them to wear something else. We will be enforcing this and will contact home when necessary. Also, please talk with your student about appropriate decision making and reporting anything they may see that is an issue. When students report issues, we are able to get in front of them and handle the situation before it becomes a real problem. There are going to be a lot of special events including field trips, 8th grade celebration, and extra planned activities that we want all of our students to participate in. Please stress making good decisions because all of the fun that is planned at the end of the year can be removed on an individual basis. We want to avoid this at all costs. I look forward to finishing the 2023/2024 school year on a positive note. Go Eagles!
