From the Principal's Desk—
HAPPY OCTOBER! This is my favorite time of the year. The leaves are beginning to change into beautiful colors, the air is crisper and students are finally adjusted to the everyday routines in the building. I am hoping to see you tomorrow at the PTO Fall FUND Fest at Hornyak Farms! PTO has planned many fun activities and it is sure to be a fabulous event and evening.
This month we are focusing on promoting KINDNESS at Park. Offering kindness is one of our Topper traits and students are working hard to show kindness to each other and people in their community. Our school counselor, Mrs. Barnett, has organized a Kindness Challenge for October! SOCKTOBER! All month long, Park students will be collecting NEW pairs of kids/youth socks to donate to Geauga County Job & Family Services. Our school wide goal is to collect 300 pairs of new socks!!! There will be collection boxes in the building and the TOP 3 classes that donate the most pairs of socks will win a popcorn party! Mrs. Barnett will send more information home this week. This is an excellent opportunity for our students to help others in our community, one pair of socks at a time.
I hope you have a chance to get out and enjoy the colors of Fall. Have a terrific rest of the week and weekend!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Makee

Topper Tuesdays!
Every Tuesday at Park School will be TOPPER TUESDAY! Join us as Students and Staff wear their Chardon Topper spirit wear or any Red or Black gear you like.
Mrs. Lannon's class did their first Socratic Seminar.
The question was, "where do you think is the best place to get books?" The options were the Library or the Biblioburro.
The students made their point using sentence starters like, "I think..., I agree with you because..., I disagree with you because..."
We had an amazing discussion and very interesting reasons why their choice was best. So impressive!
We had donkeys visit to go along with our Wit & Wisdom book "Waiting for the Biblioburro" !
This was so much fun for the first graders!
🌟 Topper Tickets! 🌟
Topper Tickets are part of Park's PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) system. They are given to students as a special recognition when they demonstrate a Topper Trait - Taking Responsibility, Offering Kindness, and Persevering. Each day, we randomly select a few Topper Ticket winners from each grade level to receive a prize! Check the newsletter each week for their names!
1st Grade: Ezra Johnson, Jameson Klinger, Autumn Mastrangelo, Rowan Sutter, Colton Thierrin, Franklin Wiencek
2nd Grade: Cecilia Crane, McKenna Hallen, JJ Hatfield, Kelsey Johnson, Briella Lino, Matteo Tucci
3rd Grade: Zac Anderson, Kelsey Baranovich, Major Elig, Molly Keegan, Brayden Roos, Maria Wiencek

Check Out our New Picnic Tables!
Park Elementary was awarded a Go Green Community Grant from The Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste Management District. Go Green Community Grants help support programs that encourage waste reduction, recycling and cleaning up our neighborhoods. Park Elementary received two picnic tables made from recycled materials and used to promote Earth Day this upcoming school year. Students and staff members have already begun enjoying these additions to our school grounds.

These grades provide a snapshot of your child’s current performance and areas of growth. Please keep in mind that there is still ample time for students to improve and demonstrate their understanding as the quarter progresses.
If you have any questions or need further clarification about your child’s grades or their progress, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher. We are here to support you and your child in any way we can to ensure their success. Thank you for your continued partnership in your child’s education.
