Principal Message
We hope that each of our families had a wonderful fall break and a Happy Thanksgiving!
December goes by fast, but we want to remind all our families that each and every K-5 student takes Progress Monitoring 2 State tests for ELA and Math during these three weeks. Please be sure that your child is present and on time as most testing will begin right away in the morning. Additionally, grades 3-5 take their NWEA Science assessment.
The schedule will be below, but please note that it is subject to change or be tweaked based on school needs. In addition, be aware that lunch schedules may be altered the first two weeks of December so please plan accordingly.
Lastly, we are wishing each of our families a safe and wonderful Winter Break!
Book Fair is happening Dec 2nd- 6th and will be open for families to shop during the Winter Wonderland! Great time to grab some books for the Holiday Season as gifts or for kids to read over break!
Attendance
One major thing we need your support with is attendance, including tardies and early check outs. We are monitoring attendance of all of our students. Please be sure to communicate if your child is sick. Also, please help us by scheduling appointments early or after school to limit impact of lost instructional time.
If you need to report an absence, please do so on the school website: https://wes.pasco.k12.fl.us/mform/view.php?id=12510
Arrival Drop Off
Also, all students and families should be utilizing the sidewalk when walking their children to the gate, not the edge of the parking lot, again, this is for you and your families safety.
Thank you for helping us keep our Wranglers safe!

Counselor's Corner
Hello Wrangler Families!
I hope you and your family found time to recharge over the Thanksgiving break. As the holiday season continues, there is excitement as well as stress that comes along with it. Children can pick up on your stress, causing them to stress and worry about things that are really big for them to handle. When children bring that stress to school, it impacts their learning and relationships with their peers. Children may not have the coping skills to handle these situations. As adults, it is our job to help our children and students learn these skills. Some coping skills children can use are deep breathing, doing something they enjoy, spending time with loved ones, drawing, coloring, journaling, watching a favorite movie, taking a walk, exercise, talking it out, listening to music, etc. There are many different strategies we can use to teach children coping skills. If one strategy doesn’t work, keep trying until you find the one that works for your child. If you need more guidance and support on this issue, please feel free to contact me.

School Wide Expectations
Be Responsible: Being responsible is coming to school on time, being prepared and ready to learn, and using good character. It is important to do what is expected and always try your best.
Be Safe: Being safe is making choices that keep yourself and others free from harm. We work hard on teaching Self Control. This is keeping hands, feet, hurtful words and objects to ourselves.
Parents and families can reinforce these same ideas at home and in the community. When we are all using the same language, a child can truly understand and practice these skills.
School Lunches
Pasco County Schools Food & Nutrition Services will be implementing a program called the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). All enrolled students of Pasco County Schools are eligible to receive a healthy breakfast and lunch at school at no charge to their household. No further action is required. Students will be able to participate in these meal programs without having to pay a fee or submit a meal application. A la carte items will still be available for purchase including additional meals and/or components of the meals. Families can reach out to Food & Nutrition Services directly through Let’s Talk, call FNS at 813.794.2480, or email FNS_Finance@pasco.k12.fl.us if they have any questions regarding this new program.
Parents are highly encouraged to make advance payment for a la carte items by utilizing www.MySchoolBucks.com. Any check made to Woodland Elementary that is returned for insufficient fund will be assessed a $25.00 fee.
Cell Phone Policy
For all Pasco County Schools
Grades Pre-K through 5: Students in grades Pre-K through 5 who bring WCDs (wireless communication devices) to school must ensure that they remain on silent mode and completely out of view for the entire school day. Classroom teachers may also provide, and student may utilize, a cell phone storage area in their classroom. Students will need to put their cell phones on silent and their smart watches and put them in the bookbags once arriving on campus each day. Please have a conversation with your child prior to the first day of school so they know that they MUST silence their devices and put them away during the ENTIRE school day- no exceptions. Refer to pg. 32 of the Student Code of Conduct for more details and corrective actions/confiscation of device procedures.
