Something Very Fishy at the iMAGINE Upstate STEAM Festival in Greenville, SC
Come join us at the iMAGINE Upstate STEAM Festival in downtown Greenville, SC on Saturday, April 6th from 11-5 pm. Our Something Very Fishy exhibit is fun for the whole family and is offering a opportunity for kids to earn their SVF Ocean Explorer passport. We have four tasks to complete with a sticker being earned with each accomplishment. Help our lost marine animals find their way back to their appropriate habitat at the Diversity station. Learn to identify a healthy coral and transplant it our coral reef at the Coral Nursery station. Become a veterinarian for the day and help diagnosis a patient at the Sea Turtle Hospital. Take your first virtual open water dive at the Aquanaut Training Center. Become an Ocean Explorer today.
A Coral Reef Adventure Right Here in the Upstate
Children from Six Mile, Blue Ridge, Iva, and McKissick Academy Elementary enjoyed an imaginary field trip through the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary this past November. From coral nursery to sea turtle hospital, from Eco-Discovery boardwalk to the Aquarius Underwater Habitat, this program introduces children to the NOAA Ocean Literacy principles through theatrical performance and hands on engagement. Funding was generously provided by a grant from the SC Arts Commission Arts Education Grant and through the Clemson University Creative Inquiry program. Many thanks to the Science Outreach Center for hosting our field trip.
