Student progress notices are sent home with students in the middle of each quarter as a notice of how your child is progressing. We will send an ADT call to let you know the day we send the report home with students. Progress reports will be sent home on November 19, February 3, and April 22. Report cards for all middle school students are issued quarterly. The quarters will end on the following dates: October 18, December 20, March 14, and May 19. Positive Office Referrals
Forsyth Middle School honors students from grades 5th - 8th for exhibiting outstanding character traits. Students are selected for displaying positive character traits throughout the school day. Their positive office referrals are placed on the bulletin board in the hall by the middle school office. These students are called to the office and recognized for their positive behavior. Each month students are honored at the monthly character education assembly. Pictured below are the students honored for displaying positive character for the month of October.

Homecoming Week
Forsyth Schools will be celebrating their 2024 Homecoming with a parade on the evening of Thursday, October 10th at 6:00 p.m. The parade will begin at the Historical Society, run along Main Street and then follow US 160 all the way back to the school. The parade floats will showcase the football team, cheer team, homecoming royalty, and several student clubs and organizations. The theme for this year’s Homecoming events is “Out of This World”.
The community is invited to a pep rally at the football field immediately following the parade. We look forward to seeing you come out and support your Panthers. The Homecoming game will be on Friday, October 11th at 7:00 versus Strafford.
All buildings are able to participate in Homecoming Spirit Week. Below are the dates of what to wear for each Spirit Day.

The STUCO members worked together as a team, ensuring smooth operations while serving customers with efficiency and enthusiasm. Their teamwork and dedication not only helped raise funds for future events but also showcased their commitment to supporting the school community."
Summer Reading Incentive
Mrs. Storment, our new K-6 librarian, offered students the opportunity to read for at least 1,500 minutes over the summer. We had seven middle school students complete the reading incentive packet and read for at least 1,500 minutes this summer! The students voted to celebrate with a pizza party. The students had pizza, soda, and an ice cream treat to celebrate their achievement!
Way to go, Kloey Faulkner, Rylee McCall, Mackenzie Campbell, Blakely Bailey, Chael Yarnell, Maxon VanKirk, and Cody Goodman!
Mrs. Storment's Book Tasting
The library had a book-tasting for grades 5th & 6th last week! The library was decorated like a restaurant, and Mrs. Storment wore an apron and chef hat. What was being served? Books, of course! Students sat down at different tables, and each table had a tray of books on them. They “sampled” new and different books. The 5th and 6th graders sampled books from five different genres, which helped them choose books to read for their Passport to Reading booklets. Below are a few pictures from this activity.
Mrs. Tanksley's 8th Grade Social Studies Class
To support this learning, we utilized Wicked Hydra, an instructional resource designed to foster stronger inquiry skills through more nuanced questioning. This tool encourages students to delve deeper into their analyses and promotes critical thinking as they explore historical contexts.
