EVS Newsletter
October 2024
We have had a great September here at EVS. Staff and students have settled back into the routines of school. We had a number of High School Athletes welcome students in the mornings this week and collected a number of food items for Mascoma Tackles Hunger. Thank you to everyone that was able to participate. We are looking forward to our Open House on Thursday, October 3, 2024 starting at 5:30. I hope you can come and visit your child's classroom. The Book Fair will be open during the Open House as well!
We are starting a new tradition here at EVS. Instead of selecting a Mighty Owl each quarter, we are celebrating our building as Mighty Owls. Each month our students and staff will be focusing on different expectations throughout the building. When a staff member notices students successfully meeting those expectations, a token will be given to the classroom teacher. Those tokens will be displayed in a way that helps us know we are doing our best here at EVS.
For the month of October, we are focusing on Hallway expectations. Students will be rewarded for using a safe body, having a respectful voice, and staying "tight to the right." We will be earning paper gumballs for our gumball machine that is on the wall outside of the office. If we fill the gumball machine, we will have an all school celebration at the end of the month. Ask your child if they can tell you what our hallway expectations are!

Scholastic Book Fair
Dear Families,
Get ready-the Scholastic Book Fair is coming to our school! This is a great opportunity to connect with your child over the thrill of bringing home new books to dive into again and again. Studies show that kids read more when they choose books for themselves. And fostering a love of independent reading leads to a wide variety of benefits-including academic success and improved mental health.
Here's everything you need to know about the Book Fair:
Dates: 10/1-10/3
Location: Room 301
Family Event schedule and location: Open House Room 301 (all the way upstairs)
There's even more info on our school's Book Fair homepage:
https://www.scholastic.com/bf/enfieldvillageschool
While you're there, set up a Book Fair eWallet, the digital payment account that allows your child to shop for books at the Fair without cash. Then share your eWallet link so friends and extended family can add funds.
When you fund an eWallet, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to a giving initiative called Share the FairTMM. Your contributions directly support our students who need help buying books from the Fair.
Many of us still remember the rush of finding the perfect book at a Scholastic Book Fair. I hope you'll join your child at our school's Fair and share a reading experience they'll remember forever.
Happy reading,
Mrs. Winny

PS: Need one more reason to visit the Book Fair? Every purchase at the Fair benefits our school!

Lunch Balances
There are a couple of different ways to pay for student breakfast/lunch balances.
- You can send money in an envelope to school with your students name on it. We will give it to the kitchen and it will get put on your child's account.
- You can set up an online account through MyMealtime and put money on their account. Check out the food services section of the school website for more information.
You will receive a paper copy of any outstanding balances. If you need help, please reach out to the office.
